The Long Overdue Pointless 2015/16 (Adidas) Kit Thread
saintwbu replied to The9's topic in The Saints
We have a central brand logo on our two Hummel kit's for the youth team I manage, as they do for all of their team wear range. As a result we place the club crest central, underneath the brand logo, which looks brilliant. No idea why Adidas use a central brand logo given the size and placement of it, and the fact that they only seem to use it when they fancy, it just doesn't make sense! I'm a big fan of having the club crest central, but it just wouldn't work on any of the Adidas kits so it's quite bizarre! Still like the home kit mind... -
Raheem Sterling won 'young player of the year' for Liverpool last night, so if we are doing it to include first team players as well, would Mané be eligible at 23? if so then i'd go Players' Player of the Season - Fonte Young Player of the Season - Mané President's Choice Award - Kelvin Davis? stepping in to replace FF, if not then Fonte again or even Schneiderlin for getting his head down after the summer episode Goal of the Season - Tough, probably Pelle, just Fans' Player of the Season - Fonte

The Long Overdue Pointless 2015/16 (Adidas) Kit Thread

I guess a problem with SportsDirect is they often discount (even if only slightly) which may detract from sales of shirts from the club. But sticking them in all the national Adidas shops alongside the Chelsea, United, AC Milan, Real Madrid shirts wouldn't do us any harm! (I'm not comparing us to those clubs, obviously) -
Elia looks like he's got his back up and wants to take control of this shambles to be fair to him

Good signs so far from Turnball and Stephens, both like a dribble and Stephens in particular looks very calm & composed on the ball.

Sky Sports News mentioning all day how Bournemouth have been linked with Charlie Austin. Surely a good enough option for us?

How could i forget Targett!? i knew there was someone significant I was missing haha.

Whenever I hear people criticise our lack of academy players making appearances this season in comparison with previous years, I always think how many other clubs could have three first team regular academy products (Lallana, Shaw, Chambers) taken from them and still have any even close to the squad let alone one fairly regular (JWP) and one regularly on the bench (Reed). On top of that we had Gape, Seager, Hesketh, (maybe one i've missed?) all make substitute appearances and if it wasn't for his injury Gallagher would've probably been used as well. I think it's amazing we can even field one academy player with what happened to us last summer, i'm sure we'll see more inclusion next year.

Didn't see much in Sam Gallagher when I saw him last year but what a ball that was for our second to add to him scoring the first! Really impressed so far.

Definitely don't think any of those games a definite wins for our rivals. Burnley have caused City, Chelsea and United problems away from home, picking up points in two of those three, so Liverpool won't have an easy game.

Saints 1 Palace 0 - Post Match Nerve Reconstruction
saintwbu replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
I don't know what we did differently with Tadic tonight but he looked much like his pre-christmas self when he came on, really livened us up a bit. Also impressed with Djuricic, not sure why the the commentator was saying he wasn't very good on the stream, made a few great runs forward just to be fouled in the end. Not a good game, not a good performance, but a great win. I don't think we have 'turned a corner' in terms of our quality in front of goal but it's definitely something off our backs having finally got that elusive goal. -
England footballer 'arrested over underage sex allegations'

It's all if's and but's but if she was in a nightclub or other 18+ venue, then she would have convinced door staff etc. that she was above 18, presumably with an ID that isn't her but looks like her. If the people whose job it is to detect under 18's and prevent them entering the premises cannot spot that the girl is not 18, then can you really blame Adam Johnson? If she's in there on someone else's ID, even if he did go as far as asking her to prove she's 18 then is he supposed to be able to detect the ID not to be hers? I know plenty of girls who were in nightclubs before they turned 18 using their older sisters ID due to their similarity, people are lying to themselves if they don't think this is common. And for those saying 15 year old's don't look 18, at 15 you're in the final year of secondary school, there's plenty who dress and look over 18 nowadays. Having said that, there is no suggestion either way that he did meet her out and about, for all we know he could've genuinely been doing what he shouldn't. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough! -
Personally i don't begrudge Clyne moving on. I seem to remember last summer the primary complaint being about players (Lallana in particular) signing long term big contracts and then wanting out straight away, well Clyney has fulfilled most of his and will probably be sold to avoid him going on a free. He signed the contract, he's honoured it to a point where it's virtually over and from a selling point of view effectively is, therefore I don't think we can really complain, he did the same thing at Palace and why shouldn't he, thats what the contract is there for. Obviously I will be gutted to see him go, but I think for a change we are seeing a player actually stick to what he has signed, and act well within his rights to see that contract out and move on. Fair play to the lad in my opinion, and I wish him well for the future, seems a fairly sensible and switched on guy, evident from not signing for United some years ago when he had the chance but instead opting to join us for the guarantee of first team football before now seemingly bagging his 'big' move. We'll survive and move on I'm sure.

Surely due a chant to the tune of 'follow the leader' sometime soon..

Don't buy the "yes the ref was bad but.." lines. Against premier league opposition, some games you may only get one clear cut chance, today we had three and were prevented every time by two fouls and a handball. The referee completely lost us the game today, plain and simple. Utter disgrace, can't believe I had to pay to watch a performance like that from someone who rakes in about £100k a year for doing that so called job, yet if Koeman was to come out and rightly say how ****e he was, he'd get fined himself. Absolutely livid. We do need to bloody shoot though, today was deja vu of the United game at home, just screaming for someone to hit it and they buried their only two chances. Still, long way to go yet and we're in the mix.

Must add this was on TalkSport

in the last 10 minutes heard a Spurs fan saying how nobody had heard of Luke Shaw before Pochettino took over Saints and then he turned him into a £30mil player by giving him his chance in the first team, which is why he's such a fantastic coach. This must be a different Luke Shaw to the one that set up Jason Puncheon's equaliser at Stamford Bridge in Nigel Adkins' last match in charge and had already been a regular starter for months

"I was really impressed by Mane - not that we need him. Shame on me, but I knew very little about him before the game - and he was a constant threat to us (who wasn't, though). Incredibly gifted and has an eye for a pass. Not that we need him at all, of course." LOL

Clyne pictured on our Instagram page picking up an EA award, wearing a training top. The top could be just for show possibly but hopefully a suggestion he's back in training and therefore alright for Sunday!

Sadio Mané says he will be back in just two weeks
saintwbu replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Anyone reckon he maybe wasn't injured at all? Was a bit of a strange one at the time, got his goal then got injured immediately. Diafra Sahko has suffered the same fate, Senegal aren't having much luck! -
Lallana out for a month with a thigh injury, just as he was starting to find some form. Real shame that...
-
He walked past me at the United game so he didn't really help us then!

I know some are going to say 'shows how important Cork is' and then others will reply 'but it was only against blah blah blah'. But what a great stat for Jack himself, not conceding a goal and averaging 3.5 goals per game when he's in the side. I for one will be very sad if this is Jack's final season with us, great professional.

If a goalkeeper faces 20+ shots a game, at this level he is bound to pull off a few good saves and look like a word beater like David Marshall last season and currently Tom Heaton. Fraser isn't getting that chance to make himself look good, so at the moment he's only being judged on the basis of quiet performances and errors like tonight. It's easy to make errors of judgement when you're stood around all game not doing a lot, and then suddenly you are called into action. Let's be honest, obviously they all end up in the same result (a goal) but it wasn't the worst goalkeeper error we've ever seen, and it certainly wasn't comparable to either of Boruc's last season in my opinion. If it wasn't for that half a second of hesitation Fraser would've cleaned that up, he looks nervous, and not surprisingly, he's still yet to be tested at this level whatsoever! Give the guy I chance, I loved Boruc but I feel a million times happier with FF in between the sticks, just his presence alone seems more reassuring.
