So, while countries across the world actually do something about the disease we are facing, the EU "project" is disintegrating in front of our eyes. With the end of the Schengen concept and the pitiful ECB, in managing anything to do with the economy of Europe, we witness the return of the nation state. The euro will disappear with covid-19, when the major economies have to pay off the debts of Spain and Italy, and sanity will return. We have been lectured by politicians and economists for years and they are all now shown as the false prophets they are. Pumped up by their own self-inflated egos, they will have to rely on the sectors of our society that have been undervalued for far too long - our scientists and healthcare professionals. Forget religion, forget the casino bankers that didn't see this coming, our only saviours will be technology and community care, driven by national pride and shared values, not politics and profit. So, goodbye EU and good luck. We will join in the fight with you, but as I have posted many times on this thread, I am relieved the UK is in one of the first lifeboats, watching the EU Titanic disappear beneath the waves.

The US will have to ride to Europe's rescue again. I bet there will be a lot of regret about the way that Trump has been treated by the EU (and Johnson, for that matter), as I have a feeling it will be all hands to the pump to save Italy. I also have a feeling the death knell for the euro is soon to be heard.

They're hardly likely to use the incredible expertise of the Benny Hill of economists, Gavyn Davies, are they? The man who thought the ERM ("Eternal Recession Mechanism") was a good idea. (Actually, it was a good idea...for George Soros).

In the EU, the reality of Brexit and it's effect on trade is finally going to bite. A great and concise article in this morning's DT, here. Finally, the boot is on the other foot...

Read the quote. It said "human-induced heating", not climate change. I was being charitable using the term climate change. "human-induced heating", "common sense"??

Christ only knows where these "researchers" come from, but they are now equating climate change with weather patterns. No wonder they are now looking like unscientific chumps...gathering the climate cultists along with them. Re-read the above and try and justify the statement, in the light of today's weather in Australia...

For those informed and practising macro-economists out there, please can you explain why the current TARGET balances cause absolutely no cause for concern? The up-to-date figures can be found here. In summary:

€ billion Germany Spain Italy

2009 177.7 -41.1 54.8

2019 895.2 -392.4 -439.4

For those not following this ten year train wreck: Italy and Spain are fu**ed The euro is fu**ed The EU is fu**ed We are not....

The way forward for me was this beast. A refurbished HP Z800 Workstation - Intel Xeon X5680 - 16GB RAM, 480GB SSD, DVD, Nvidia, Win10 for £349. A proper minicomputer that will blow the PC's you list out of the water and is simple to upgrade/repair, with plug in modules for everything. Add a HP monitor, keyboard and mouse for £200 and you'll be as happy as I've been for the last 4 years.

...is on the cards and as a lifelong Tory, I can safely say that when it happens, it will be one of the best decisions since Boris was elected leader of the party. What a sh!tstorm of a company. Hate them. Might as well nationalise Flybe at the same time. The EU aren't exactly in a position to complain about state aid and it works for Airbus and the Chinese. Horses for courses...

Did he really post that? Jeez, as the Germans call us Treasure Island, Christ only knows what they call Andorra. Probably "Wo???"
