I met Bryan Gould when I first set my company up at Southampton University Science Park, back in 1986. Panorama were doing a program on "New Labour" and we had received a small grant from the local council, which helped me on my way. I had a chat with him and said what a great idea it was for Labour to be investing in small start-ups and they should do it nationally. He asked me why I set up in the UK, after returning from the US and I said it was because of the encouragement from the local council and the availability of skilled staff. He told me that he wouldn't have recommended relocating to Dagenham, given the union problems. Alan Whitehead was with him. A £13k loan from a Labour local council which, together with my credit card was all I had to start the company up. I sold it 2 years later for over a million. I'll never forget the support I received from the Labour council in Southampton and if Bryan was running, I'd vote for him in a flash. Funny how some political parties can go to $h!t.

The paper is from March, 2019, d!p$h!t, but you didn't read it, did you....? To make it simple, it confirms that economists don't have a clue, and some are downright dishonest. Reminds me of a pal of mine who should be spending his time "consulting" instead of stalking me

I won't say I told you so, but...

Labour gets mogged....

The government tables a short bill which sets aside the provisions of the FTPA to allow an election on a specific date. This bill would only require a simple majority to pass.

Jesus H Christ. You really are switched on about the border issue, aren't you?

Him, the DUP and the Brexit Party, you mean...

#2 - Line up candidates to stand in 21 constituencies that have been mis-represented for years. #4 - Freedom charter means free to negotiate FTA's and be free of EU legal oversight. That'll do me.

The only good thing about Jess Phillips is that she is Kevin Phillips cousin-in-law. A middle class grammar school girl who is fooling no one apart from her constituents about her faux working class roots. Perfect constituency for the Conservatives to stand back from this hate filled cow at the next election and let a Brexit candidate take the bullet. You never know. Her performance in the Commons yesterday was an embarrassment...

As I said, Boris and Co are playing a blinder. Dominic Cummings to-do list is: Get rid of the traitors in the party Replace sheep in wolves clothing with loyal Conservatives Unify the party Call an election Message: The People vs Parliament Arrange a deal with Nigel Taunt a divided Marxist dominated Labour, joke of a party during the run up Win a substantial majority Go to the EU with a freedom charter Watch Corbyn, Labour and the EU project sink without a trace Winter is Coming

English obviously isn't your strong point and as far as Maths, how about 70% of Labour constituencies voted Leave help you to understand the point. Next I'll explain the meaning of anti-Semitic and Marxist to you....

Justine Greening, Dominic (I'll Stop No-Deal Brexit, Even If It Leads To Prime Minister Corbyn) Grieve and Sam Gyimah all voted against the deal. Sh!t$ every one of them...
-
You're an idiot, as this article proves. It was Labour that stopped the deal. Iain Duncan Smith, Liam Fox, Michael Gove, Sajid Javid, Boris Johnson, Andrea Leadsom and Jacob Rees-Mogg, amongst many other Conservatives, all voted for May's deal, the last time it was voted upon on March 29th.

My prediction for today: The government tables a short bill which sets aside the provisions of the FTPA to allow an election on a specific date. This bill would only require a simple majority to pass.

Boris continues to play a blinder. Gets rid of the Lib Dem infestation in one day and calls a GE the next day. Follows that up with no deal and a pact with the Brexit party and Corbyn is toast and the Conservatives have a 50 seat majority. I love it...

Herbert et al missing the point

Not really relevant to my post, dated 27th June, 2016, when you predicted Armageddon, though is it? #missedthepoint

FTSE 100 since above post ]

Not to mention disloyalty and duplicity...

I would be amazed if more than a single MP is elected as an Independent or Minor party member at the next GE. There have been only 13 different persons elected as such in Great Britain since 1950.
-
BoJo's playing a blinder. No deal brexit, get rid of the Lib Dem infestation and greatly increase the Conservative majority at the next GE. A free trade agreement with the US, the EU on the back foot and the dream of the opening post on this thread, comes true. I love this country...

Theresa May and the death of the Tory Party
Guided Missile replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
The premise is that we operate on a simple FTA, not the current arrangements, such as the one proposed by Dr. Bartels, here, then move on to a super Canada arrangement, as already offered by the EU, in a couple of years. -
Even Lorand Bartels agrees here:

To revisit this as well, it appears to me that this will be the "deal" that get's us out of the EU on the 31st October. That is, use GATT Article XXIV. 5b to be exact, which states: As todays article in the Torygraph states: In Andrew Neil's interview with Boris Johnson, Neil (and Whitehall) claimed that: So, job done....
