Murdock Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 Ok turning back to football topics for a bit. We all know that gaining a play off place would be perhaps the best we could hope for this season. So a few stats to prove that we could do just that: 2004/5 Luton 98pts Champions Hartlepool 71pts 6th place 27pts difference 2005/6 Southend 82pts Champions Swansea 71pts 6th place 11pts.... 2006/7 S****horpe 91pts Champions Oldham 75pts 6th Place 16pts.... 2007/8 Swansea 92pts champions Southend 76pts 6th place 2008/9 16pts... Leicester 96pts Champions S****horpe 76pts 6th place 20pts.... My point is that, even given that we start on minus 10 "if" we're good enough we'll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. Oh yes I know lies, damn lies and statistics......
Matthew Le God Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 If Leicester had -10 last season they would have come 3rd and been 1 point away from 2nd place and automatic promotion. Leicester didn't have a very rich Swiss backer to improve their team, just Mr Mandaric(who did spend abit but hopefully we will do alot more in the market now)
SaintBobby Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 I think - realistically - play-offs are our best hope, but we might scrape 6th place, but be easily the best team of the four play-off teams. Odds are we have to spend two years in League One, but I have put £100 on us getting promoted at 3-1 on betfair.
badgerx16 Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 I think that the -10 will count less against us than the p1ssed about pre-season; when we could have been assessing and enhancing the squad, we were instead fretting as to whether we would exist at all, and wasting precious time with the tyre kickers.
