Sorry if this has been posted before, but i've just got back from Derby (Posh Vs Derby match) yesterday.

I watched the Saints match on TV and thought that Saga had a great match yesterday. he looked well up for it and hopefully we can keep him.

He looked alright to me, but its hard to tell wether Saga is completely up for it or totally disinterested - coz he always looks so lethargic!

The problem is his total lack of pace. But then again that is a problem shared by the whole team

I thought that Lallana was wasted up on the left yesterday. He should have been sitting behind the strikers and working with Schneiderlin to feed Saga.

Saga ended up going too deep with no-one infront of him, he just can't do it all on his own. We need to supply decent balls into the box for him too feed off, then hopefully we'll see his goal scoring ability instead of him battling away around the area with not much reward

Looked off the pace in real life, I thought, & never looked like scoring

Saga works very hard and I think his all-round play is good. He just doesn't shoot enough and those shots he takes are usually just wide. If the goal was 25' wide, he'd score loads. Personally, I trace his problems back to the home play-off match with Derby when he hit the bar twice. He's never looked confident since and this has been shown up by two very long scoring droughts in the last two seasons.

I really wanted him to do well. I couldn't make my mind up as to whether he was disinterested as he was never in the game once, or he just didn't have the support.

On reflection, he was rubbish...another Stern John if you ask me - I really hope I am proven wrong.......

Saga is a finisher and he only got 3 good chances yesterday, one he missed and the other two he scored but were marginally offside. So really that's 1 chance. If you give him a free shot in the box then he will score but with no service what can he do. He ends up coming deep for the ball and gets marked by 3 fat lumps who are kicking him to pieces. If Lallana was in the middle he could have layed it off to him but there was never anyone there except Morgan sometimes.Strikers can be made to look really bad in a team with a poor midfield and so much of it is about the style that the team play. That's why so many strikers get 20 goals in a season once in their career but struggle for the rest of it. Matt Fryatt scored 2 in 30 games in 07-08 then 26 in 44 in 08-09. It was a lower division but that's still a big difference and the reason why was the team played in a way that suited him and he had Steve Howard alongside him. Very few strikers can make goals on their own and if we can get two widemen who will send crosses into the box and get Lallana to play in the hole behind the front two then Saga will score goals. And so will Paterson and Rasiak.
