Master Bates Posted 8 October, 2009 Share Posted 8 October, 2009 Mine are all food related. Since moving jobs to Shirley Road I have been able to try very different foods, which are as follows. Warm Mango Flavoured crisps by Lays - different, nice to begin with, but after a few they taste rank. Cheeseburger flavoured crisps by Nobby's - tastes foul, do not recommend. Cheese & Ham toasties by Directors Cut - a very nice tasty snack to eat anytime Peter's Sausage & Bean slice - not as tasty as I thought it would be, the beans don't really have much taste. Malaga Czekoladki nadziewane by Wawel - surprising nice. Dark chocolate with a creamy caramel filling with currants. Would love to try 'Tiki Taki' next. RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 October, 2009 Share Posted 8 October, 2009 I went in a Polish shop in Shirley once and bought a samosa from an Indian bloke who was working there. It was well confusing, but the samosa was lovely.
RonManager Posted 8 October, 2009 Share Posted 8 October, 2009 Anyone remember 'Pete's Takeaway' on Shirley High Street. Before the franchises arrived from America these were IMHO the best burger, chips and beans in the county (does Homer Simpson drooly thing). Little concrete place on the corner of the cutway that leads to St Marks School/Stafford Road? Quality burgers. There used to be a burger place that we used to go in in St Mary's Street that we used to get munch from after a night at Manhattan's. Can't remember what it was called but they used to do Chinese burgers. This was just a burger in a bap with loads of bean shoots piled on top. Fab!!!! Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 8 October, 2009 Share Posted 8 October, 2009 Anyone remember Two Eyes in Shirley? It was a couple of doors down from the Police station. Some of the best 'American' food I have ever had.
