I duno if jammy is the word. i 100% meant to do it.

You will all remember this as the day i scored direct from a corner with a curling drive with the outside of my boot ;)

As for the rest of the game, i really enjoyed it again this week. The team i was on played 3 games. We started awesomly, then went crap for 20mins, then played decent again! As hamster said, some quality flowing moves were played at times. Felt a bit sorry for some on the other team as the random guy in red just refused to pass lol.. and he wasnt even a good player!

I can believe this actually Spades as I will also remember it as the day that you not once hit the ball in the general direction of one of your team mates, ergo you meant it. Well done.

Re that 'random' guy and a couple of the others that I've not seen before, are they just passers by or are they from the forum?

I keep forgetting to insert smiley things, soz Spades. You were I have to say 'on form' last night and both your's and JustM's performances brought me pleasure, I actually woke during the night thinking of you both.

How much is it just out of interest?

It's a fiver (payable to me) for your first game, that covers your insurance and registratoion plus a sip of my powerdrink, after that it's just two quid (payable to me) for the washing of the bibs and a contribution to the first aid kit.

its free mate, the astro isnt booked up for that 90mins so we just turn up and play on it.

looks like its either stopping soon or we will have to start paying coz the light will go and we'd need to pay for the floodlights...

Spades, they put the floodlights on whilst we were playing last week though. I reckon that as long as it's booked by somoene after us, we'll be fine. Anyway, don't the ****s go back next week?

the lights go on at 5:45 ish but its dark by 5, so we either play in the dark for 45 mins or pay for the 1st hour but the trouble with that is we never get enough people to make it worth while, especially when its cold and raining

it'll be about £30 ish but we struggle to get enough people to pay for it.

10 people £3 each. I'd be up for that although I accept that I'm that much of a regular. Could it be booked on the day ie ask people to commit on the thread and if numbers permit someone books it over the phone?

No pressure Mike as I think you did enough in buying the bibs, but I need something to keep see me through the winter months and I actually lost a little bit of weight this year AND apart from the the smashed knee the other week, I am actually much fitter than I was when i first went along.

I'll understand if you don't fancy it.

we have in the past carried on through (played last december 3 v 3, p!ssing down with rain, great fun ;-) even played in the dark until the lights come on at 5:45 ish. We could pay on the day no problem but we will struggle to get 10 people to play, usual excuse is that its too cold!!

Maybe once a month would get people out of their armchairs? Then again, the next few weekends I've got other stuff on so maybe you're right, best leave it for a few months.

Personal thanks to you though Mike, as it was you who talked me into coming in the first place as part of our preperation for taht mauling of nickh's band of merry men back in May. I know that I wasn't very good but just think how much worse it could have been!!! Cheers fella.

As I said last yr, y don't we just start earlier, say 4? I know some people cant make it but it makes sense that the ppl who can make it play rather then sit around at home!

no prob with starting earlier but we will still struggle for numbers, mainly down to the weather!

  • 4 weeks later...

I cannot start threads on the forum but I thought some of you may be keen to get involved with this. Personally I think it is a brilliant idea.

What is Nike Red?

Lace Up Saves Lives

It’s time to stop wishing for a medical answer to Africa’s medical crisis. Because one already exists. And while it’s only part of a larger solution, it can help millions already dying from AIDS to live dramatically longer and fuller lives.

You can contribute to this just by lacing up a pair of shoelaces in your favourite shoes. Which means that just by going about your own life, you can help save someone else’s. Get involved.

(NIKE)RED laces

How it works

1. You purchase (NIKE)RED laces.

2. Nike contribute 100% of the profits from the sale to the Global Fund and to football-based programs that help fight AIDS in Africa.

3. Funds are received by programs like Grassroots Soccer, which uses football as a framework to teach youths how to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.

4. Funds are also contributed to The Global Fund to fund HIV/AIDS programs that support the purchase of lifesaving Antiretroviral (ARV) medication, training of medical staff, HIV testing and treatment to help prevent the transmission of the virus from pregnant mothers to their babies.

5. Life-saving knowledge is received by the next generation in Africa.
