doddisalegend Posted 6 March, 2010 Share Posted 6 March, 2010 (edited) It seems that AP and the fans are in agreement about our best eleven now give or take the odd player. So what do people think is our best second eleven? I've said before I'd like us to have a first team of around 24-25 two good players for every postion plus 2-3 utility players who can fill in. I think we've got enough good players to probably achieve that. My understudy eleven GK- Bart RB - ? CD - Thomas CD - Seabourne LB - Mills RW - Antonio CM - James CM - Gobern (not 100% on this one) LW - Holmes F- Papa F- Connolly I think we are still short in cover for midfield and right back (Murty would be good but I think his playing days are over) so a couple of signings in the summer might be needed, although I'll admit to not knowing much about our up coming youth players so there might be some options there. That still leaves a lot of players many of who will be leaving in the summer I imagine as they are just not good enough or AP doesn't rate them at least. scott_saints Posted 6 March, 2010 Share Posted 6 March, 2010 You not being sure about Gobern sums up what I think of the squad. We are one decent centre midfielder away from having a s**t hot squad. I'd probably make Semi second choice aswell and bring in a new RB.

Danish Saint Posted 6 March, 2010 Share Posted 6 March, 2010 Almost agree, and it also shows our lack of depth in midfield. Best XI: Davis, Otsemobor, Jaidi, Fonte, Harding, Puncheon, Hammond, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Lambert, Barnard. 2nd. string: Bart, Thomas, Seaborne, Perry, Mills, Antonio, James, Wotton, Holmes, Conolly, Papa Waigo. Apart from these CM's, we got Gillet, Gobern & Pulis. A bit scary.

Saintjersey Posted 6 March, 2010 Share Posted 6 March, 2010 Apart from his lack of ability, pace, strength, size and attitude. Do people forget last season when he was one of our best players?!?! Now I understand we were pretty awful as a team, but Doncaster who are sitting comfortably in the mid table in the Championship...... that's right Championship a division ahead of us seem to think that he was good enough for them. So if Hammond or Morgan get injured, I would perfectly happily welcome Gillet back into the team.

Doncaster may well be a leauge above us, but it also seems their style of play suits Gillet better.

He's like Pulis with a higher work rate. Don't get what all the fuss is with him. FWIW, this is my version of our 2nd XI: -------------Bart---------- Thomas--S'brn--Perry--Mills -------Wotton--James----- Antonio-------------Holmes ------Connolly--Waigo------

Our first XI really have no excuses do they
scott_saints Posted 6 March, 2010 Share Posted 6 March, 2010 Our second 11 is a mid table league 1 team imo.
