Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 Hi all and Mods. I was wondering if we could have a new rule for rumour threads. I was thinking something along the lines of: If the rumour turns out to be unfounded, we can abuse them to our hearts content, and I mean really ruin them. It will bring the humour back to the forum, as well as proper ****ing off, embarrassing those who made them up to get some attention for their sad little lives. Just an idea. Could even put warnings on the thread titles so as not to offend people who don't want to see things like that.
NorthamSteve Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 I heard a rumour that the mods will put barrs on peoples accounts that start up rules for rumours threads. I do agree with your sentiment but a lot of crossing-of-lines may occur.

OK..freedom of speech and all that , but some of the INT quotes and false threads started on here are worse than some tabloids dream up .
Marsdinho Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 Is there not a special icon that you can put next to someone's avatar. That way, if someone has 3 stars above their avatar, we would all know that they have made up 3 rumours that have proven to be bullsh*t.
sadoldgit Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 I don't see the problem with "rumours." Some turn out to be true although most are rubbish - surely we are all big enough to take those that seem unlikely with a pinch of salt?
JustinR Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 I don't post on this forum much. I mainly read and am interested in the opinions and knowledge of others. I do find myself frustrated at the egos on here. People that yearn for some sort of acceptance or attention. The worst kind are people that pass on rumours that have no basis in fact or that don't come from any kind of reliable source. Its difficult, we all want to know whats going on. But I think the whole takeover frenzy and subsequent unfounded rumours (particularly aimed at NC) highlighted a big problem of credibility that needs to be addressed.
