Gemmel Posted 23 August, 2010 Share Posted 23 August, 2010 Apologies if this has been mentioned before (I couldn't find anything) A mate turned up on Saturday with an old Grazer AK kit (Austrian team), sponsored by Liebherr. I didn't give it much thought, outside of thinking that if the family are going to takeover Makus's businesses, then someone in the family is interested in football. I tried to see if they were still sponsorsing them and it turns out the club is now called Liebherr Grazer AK. From what I can work out they went into Admin / Bankrupcy and agreed a deal with their creditors, what i can't work out is whether the Liebheer family bought the club, or this is just a sponsorship deal. If they own the club does that cause any issues with them owning Saints as well? (I am assuming not) So if nothing else, intresting to see that there is a genuine interest in football within the family.... oh and they play in Red and White
Saint 76er Posted 23 August, 2010 Share Posted 23 August, 2010 Most likely this is just a sponsorship deal and also presumably applies to the side of the family (siblings of Markus) who run the Liebherr group of companies (cranes etc). They are not connected to Markus in the business sense and are not the side of the family that now owns Saints.

Sponsorship of football teams by Leibherr (the crane manufacturer) has no relevance to SFC or their owners.
Saint Stimp Posted 23 August, 2010 Share Posted 23 August, 2010 Think I noticed your mate on Saturday, in the Kingsland?
Miltonaggro Posted 23 August, 2010 Share Posted 23 August, 2010 Nice spot Gem, not on my radar. Perhaps we could develop them as our feeder club!...
Marsdinho Posted 23 August, 2010 Share Posted 23 August, 2010 You end up on some strange pages when you start a search on google. I started searching for Graz AK, and ended up here. What sort of dumbass calls their kid Adolf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_H%C3%BCtter

For example SV Superfund Kapfenberg, Red Bull Salzburg, SK Puntigamer Sturm. I am pretty certain that the Liebherr family do not own Grazer AK.
