What worried me more last night

One mans bravery can be another mans desperation.

That is true, but at least he did try and be decisive. We have had many managers who fa##y around and put only 1 player on to change this, the time needed drastic action and it made a big difference.

You are right about the effectiveness Nickh, but we do not know the state of mind behind it.

But there again, would it have been so effective if it had not been against a team leading 3-0 and coasting. We will never know.

One thing for sure is that it did make a difference and so was right at that time.Had we been 3 up we would not have changed much if anything of course. A manager tries to make a difference and he did so at that time (Iam undecided whether Jan is the man for us, but will praise if he does things well)

I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one Nickh.

Perhaps if he had not instigated this ridiculous off-side trap with defenders who have hardly played together,we would not have been 3-0 down.

Against Norwich it did wonders and broke up lots of their attacks. It worked at Cov but the linesman missed it on the first goal. The 2nd goal looked offside but then seemed fair on replay.

So Pearson wasn't any good because we were convinced he just jumped up and down on the touchline all game. Now Poortvliet is no good because he doesn't jump up and down enough.

Perhaps we should advertise the job for the next applicant specifying exactly how much jumping up and down would be adequate for us as fans?

By all means let's discuss the failings of the players or the tactics - but criticising the manager's reactions when we go 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 down so easily is surely pointless. The 4-1 scoreline (and the manner of our defeat) means we interpret Poortvliet's silence as weakness and Coleman's agitation as sign of a commanding manager. If the scoreline was reversed, we'd see Poortvliet's silence as being in control and Coleman's agitation as a sign of desperation. It's all subjective.

It gets a little ridiculous on this forum watching how each defeat leads to painfully self-conscious dissections of what the manager says, how the manager stands, what brand of underwear he wears, etc. etc.

The important stuff is on the field. Everything else is just a poor reflection of it - and as such is open to our own interpretations.

maybe those fans want this: You put your left arm in

Your left arm out

In out, in out,

You shake it all about

You do the Okey-Cokey

And you turn around

That's what it's all about

Oh, Okey-Cokey-Cokey

Oh, Okey-Cokey-Cokey

Oh, Okey-Cokey-Cokey

Knees bend, arms stretch

Rah-rah-rah

then maybe they might say what a good manager.:D

As for the young lad Lloyd James, just what the hell was he on? Never in position, completely skinned and totally bereft of any idea as to how to play, let alone defend.

This has been clear for some time however to a certain element on here you are not allowed to make such blasphemous comments. His problem is somewhat compounded by the formation which gives him little or no cover.

i agree with that, the midfield does not do enough defensively and leaves our fullbacks exposed,we looked better against norwich has they all played has a team.
