laptop is infected with the 'internet security' virus.

Found quite a few forums detailing how to remove it but i'm not techie enough to understand how to follow the instructions, most point to doing it in 'safe mode', but frustration has gotten the better of me and knowing how excellent and knowledgeable you lot are I am laying myself at your mercy.

Please help as the virus is so malicious that I am at my wits end.

Please help?

hamster.

PS

I am prepared to save our important files and re-install Vista but the laptop didn;t come with a disc so any advice on this method would be appreciated too please?

PPS

Working in 'safe mode with networking' at the mo.

I ran Malwarebytes in safe mode, found loads of stuff but not this one unfortunately.

I was wondering if there's a recomended freeware prog that lists everyting that starts up showing actual .exe locations so I can just rename and delete the offender, msconfig is a bit limited I am told.

mrs h does not look at porn on this computer.

thanks everso badger and s-s, all appears well at the mo thanks to the updates, I've reset the options to run at startup too which I perhaps should have had running anyway, complacencey is the biggest threat I reckon.

That's a nasty little blighter for sure.
