I know this is probably better on the Tech Forum, but there's so little traffic there I though I'd try here first. I trust you guys.

I'm thinking about getting an iPad - probably wait for the iPad 2 now - but just interested in views from those that have one:

1. What do you think of it - happy or disappointed?

2. What do use it for - games, work, surfing etc?

3. Given what you know now, would you still buy one?

Please respond only if you have one - I'm not interested in views from those who beleive Apple are the axis of evil

Thanks

F

1. Very happy.

2. Web browsing, mail, video, music, photos, games.

3. Given what know now, I would not have upgraded my MacBook to the unibody one a year or so beforehand. I would have stuck with the old white one and just made more use of my Mac mini instead.

The instant on, form factor and immense battery battery life make the MacBook redundant on my travels. Despite the support for a keyboard, word processing and 'work' apps, I'm not sure it could be a justifiable permanent replacement for a work machine or laptop. Having said that, with the print options now available, it would easily complement it.

Owning one is a bit like owning an iPhone: when you didn't have one you wondered if you can justify the expense, if you really need one and would really make good use of it; Then once you own one you wonder how you ever lived without it.

Team it up with an Apple TV to stream your photos, music, video etc and it's amazing.

Is that a good price Deppo?

Not really. You can now pick up a brand new one for £429 with full warranty. THAT's a good price. However, if you don't mind second hand then there should be some real bargains in the coming weeks and months after iPad 2 is on sale.

I've just bought one. It was supposed to be a 16GB 3G for £340 which is 2 months old.

I bought it off some chap on ebay and said I'd pay him cash on collection.

Got to his house - he was a really nice chap. Showed me proof of purchase and it working and everything.

Went and got back in the car and realised it was a 32GB!

What a result. Feel a bit bad for the guy though!

Won't show on mine :( I use whatsapp all the time too! If you do a google search it does say that it's been discontinued for iPad. Perhaps if you have it installed it shows up in installuous? I'll print screen my search for it if you don't believe me! I am a bit disappointed that quite a few apps don't support the full iPad screen. It would really be crap if it wasn't for the fact you can jailbreak it!

What apps do you use mostly Baj?

I am going to australia for a year and im looking to get something like an iPad that I can use on the go to update things. My only reservation would be the lack of flash on the browser and may make me get an android version from an alternative provider. Is the lack of flash irritating? I watch online shows on things like megavideo and would still like to do this.

I expect there is an app which enables flash. I know there is a media player which supports it, but not sure how/if it integrates with safari.

I've not found any problems with the lack of flash up until the other day when I went to look at some porn.

There are ways around this. The problem I have is I would want something uber portable with good battery life which allows me to do the normal stuff I do on my laptop. Lack of flash means I can't browse a host of sites I do now or watch flash video which I do a fair amount of in my spare time. From my investigations, it seems there is a flash browser but the compatibility is cr*p and it's not very good. Damn you apple just become flash compatible!

It doesn't show it in appstore either. Contacted whatsapp themselves and they say they no longer support it for iPad.

What Apple devices do you support?

We support all iPhone devices no matter how old or new, as long they are running iPhone OS 3.1 and up. Sorry, but there is no iPod or iPad support at the moment.
