Schneiderlin: "I will speak with the gaffer and the physio before Saturday and hopefully I will play"

Since when does a Frenchman who couldn't speak a word of English 3 months ago start using words like "gaffer" in interviews?

Unless of course these articles are ghost written by someone else on behalf of the players.....hmmmm....

Many many years ago I went to France to do my Industrial Year placement, I didn't speak French so picked up the language on the fly. (I was living in student digs too).

After about 3 months working I went to have an Evening meal with my boss and his wife and soon learned that the French I had picked up wasn't exactly the, ahemm, purest!!

Same thing maybe? If the kids are all going to call him gaffer then I guess it is a word that he will pick up!!
