e-mail client

I used Outlook Express for donkey's years. When I moved up to Win7 I changed over to Mozilla Thunderbird. I have been finding Thunderbird a bit primitive (although I know it's free, and you get what you pay for). I have problems with font sizes, layouts, highlighting, underlining, numbering and that kind of stuff, and the final straw is that I want to set up an auto "out of office" reply and find that you can't do that in Thunderbird.

So, any suggestions for a half decent e-mail client that works well with latest windows versions. I don't mind paying for it, but would want to buy it online rather than on a disc. It would need to be able to import my Outlook Express database and contact files, and same with Thunderbird files. I want all my data on my HDD, not up in the clouds.

I started using 'Windows Live Mail' as a temporary measure when I got a new laptop a year or so ago and am still using it. Whilst it has its foibles I guess it must be doing a decent enough job for me not to get around to replacing it with something more sophisticated.

Foibles.... Long time since I've used that word in semi context. Not bad for this early on a Wednesday morning.
