Minty Posted 10 July, 2013 Share Posted 10 July, 2013 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/10538884.Cyclist_dies_in_crash/ Not long since that last bad accident on that road (motorcyclist killed I think a few months ago?). Clearly far too early to speculate about what may have happened, but more accidents seem to happen there than many other places...
Sheaf Saint Posted 12 July, 2013 Share Posted 12 July, 2013 I seem to remember an incident on that road many years ago where a Porsche driver was going so fast that when he crashed he managed to flip the car over the fence onto the railway line. The Kraken Posted 12 July, 2013 Share Posted 12 July, 2013 It's really quite a badly designed piece of road; not single carriageway but not dual carriageway either, kind of a bit of both. And considering its a 40 limit you get some absolute lunatics piling along it at times. Surprised its not been hit up with a speed camera yet. Making it dual carriageway like the top of the avenue would have been a much more sensible idea.
scotty Posted 12 July, 2013 Share Posted 12 July, 2013 A motorcyclist got killed on Balmoral Way recently, theres cones and flowers on one of the bends there. I'm not amazed tbh, there is a pack of bikers who regularly use Lordshill Way/Romsey Road/Horns Drove as a makeshift isle of man tt circuit. Horns has been closed for roadworks recently, I guess they weren't familiar with the bends along Balmoral.
