I distinctly remember Rupert inviting him to Aston Villa on the first day of the season as his guest and he was appointed shortly after. I welcomed the appointment as I felt he had a lot to bring to the Table. Unfortunately it did not bring one iota of advantage and as you say, we were relegated. He wasn't in a position at the club until after relegation but as Claus says in his testimonial programme, he was involved behind the scenes during our relegation season.
