You know those signs saying "Golf Sale"

Well I reckon we do something similar:

We choose a passionate & persuasive supporter from these boards, we all club together & send him to the UAE (economy of course), lets say Dubai.

In his suitcase is a classy advertising board saying "English Football Club For Sale" and some really plush looking pamphlets extolling the proud history of the club (especially Brazil) and the Stadium, our Dome, pictures of the fans at cardiff, pics of the full crowd against Man U, etc.

They visit the pavements outside expensive, luxury hotels, shopping centres, HQ's for Oil Companies, Golf Clubs, etc.

We contact all the media there and maybe use Youtube to do video reports, I reckon he will be on proper TV and in print within days (over there and here) purely as a sporting/financial curiosity! Then we pray that a rich millionaire or even billionaire admires our guile and decides he wants us!

Ridiculous idea, maybe, worth a try, I'll start us with a fiver. So who wants to be the most famous Saints Fan there is, the one that saves the club?

Are you saying these two guys are already in Dubai? Dont suppose they can write perfect arabic too so that the brochures can be bilingual?

They are around talent scouting for the mighty Saints but without too much sucess.

Allegedly too many bars, parties and Ladies...We maybe in a position to employ them gainfully for a change or if not cancel their overseas Saints bonuses.

Nice idea, but don't waste the airfare.

After being burned by the Liverpool fiasco and messed around by Charlton, Dubai have repeatedly stated that they have no interest in acquiring football brands on numerous occassions. They took an alternative route into an investment fund & Glenn Hoddle and got slapped back by the Premier league yesterday

Add to that the global mirth at Man City (ie Abu Dhabi) being made a laughing stock we have more chance of signing Kaka than being taken over.

There are however a lot of countries in the Middle East, but unfortunately at this time the only people looking for foreign investment into secure retirement type properties are Osama bin Wotsit (who is apparently getting fed up with rising damp in his cave) and the Talibanned. Not sure they'd pass a fit and proper person test.

Compared with gun-runners and government-level embezzlers I think they'd make admirable owners.

At least they'd keep the players in order.

Trouble is, most of the team aren't old enough to grow beards...:(

I've been saying we need to constructively sell this club since the summer. Even got put on a global ignore list for saying it continually for some reason. ;)

But is it the only way we can do something constructive to save this Club. Not sure the exact methodology would work above but to reiterate what MUST happen NOW if this club is to survive:

1. Form a Sales team. It needs to consist of Legends (MLT, CHannon, Lawrie Mac etc), Respected Fans Representatives, members of Southampton City Council, Possibly local MP, media rep.

2. Lowe and Wilde throw support behind it by saying the club IS for sale. Something Lowe has NEVER done... and never explained why. Anyway... WE MUST HAVE A DECLARATION OF 'FOR SALE'. Also that the plc will be delisted should a single buyer be found, allowing full control. Lowe pledges some £ for travel and setting up costs for the sales team. If not I'm sure Crouch would assist.

3. We promote the Club through EVERY INTERNATIONAL media outlet available - Sky, BBC, National Press etc etc. Ignore the Echo! They'll jump on the local bandwagon anyway! We are not targetting local owners...they already know the situation.

4. We promote the club as having:

- Tradition. 27 years of top flight football until recent financial mismanagement.

- A huge fan base - probably the largest on the South Coast.

- A family-oriented club with a reputation for good behaviour (yes I know about last Saturday...but thats unusual). But also an internationally recogniseable and saleable name 'Saints'

- A superb Premiership infrastructure including a youth set up that has produced some of the great young players of recent years.

- A club centred on the international port gateway to the UK. The gateway for most of the UK's trade. A City whose City Council and MP would look favourably on redevelopment and investment opportunities for a new buyer.

- You send a delegation from that sales team to present to those who show interest.

THAT is how you sell a Club. You target internationally not just nationally... as national interest will follow.

With the likes of MLT embedded in Sky we have a good start point for saving this club. We have internationally recognised legends who can add their assistance to help save this Club - from Shearer (BBC) to Kevin Keegan and others.

Mobilise Lawrie to mobilise some of those legends.

But GET OFF YOUR ARSES AND ORGANISE IT. It is now the only hope. It just needs Lowe to say 'This Club IS for sale' and the team to hit the media.

It can be done if there is the WILL to do it.

SET THE SALES TEAM UP NOW, MOBILISE AND LOOK FOR A BUYER... AND IF AT FIRST YOU DONT SUCCEED TRY AND TRY AGAIN... THE ALTERNATIVE IS A PLC UNDER LOWE LEADING US INTO ADMINISTRATION AND TOWARDS LEAGUE 2 AT BEST. AT WORST IT IS THE END OF THE CLUB.

We have until March. WHAT IS THERE TO LOSE?

(Those who say there are no buyers out there - global credit crunch etc ... you are not required. Defeatists not needed at this Club anymore, there are many many people who would look to buy this Club as a stepping stone for investment in the gateway of the UK that is Southampton)

Just a simple point Robbie about your sales team idea...

It should be made up of professionals with a network of contacts who understand how the UK & international investment markets work. Otherwise in simple terms who would the legends call to arrange a meeting?

Which is why Seymour Pierce got given the job...

oh sh*t

Agree - the team utilises the networks But, did Seymour Pierce utilise the media in the same way that WE CAN? Nope. Are there others apart from Seymour Pierce? Did those who utilised Seymour Pierce actually find a buyer anyway as they had the will to do it? YES... SISU.

As I say defeatists not required for this project ;)

And Man City?

Wow tough definition of stupid!

How's life

Life is good.. Good to still have a job!! How's Dubai??

As to stupid.. Well, Mubadala (major sponsors of Ferrari for those not in the know) can take an island, build a grand prix circuit on it, get the last race of the GP season and have 5% stake in Ferrari, buy half of Emirates Airline... Yeah, they're skint!! And ADIA is above them in the food chain..

Citeh is just a toy for a daft sheikh!!

Brunch on Friday? Boston Bar if you want to join??

Dubai as you know is damned cold at night for us long-termers!

Would love to join tomorrow but have commitments tomorrow afternoon that mean I have to drive places.

If all goes well and I finish in time may be Waxy's about 6 ish or a Karaoke trip to RB's about 9pm ish. If you have my mob txt or call or get it from EoA. (Some "tourist" types in town who want to do the Friday thing but need to run around the sights first tomorrow!)

Thaksin Shinawatra seemed to get through... They might struggle with the proof of funds thing tho. Then again that fella down the road seemed to get past that as well...

Thing is SaintRobbie (and you don't appear to see this) is that EVERYONE ONE HERE AGREES THAT THE CLUB NEEDS TO BE SOLD TO NEW OWNERS.

Constantly repeating it like a child asking 'Are we there yet?' when the car is stuck in a traffic jam on a hot day is just annoying!

It clearly isn't as simple as you make out. Crouch is on record saying he'd sell. Wilde (according to some on here, make of that what you will) wants out. Lowe apparently employed a dyslexic photocopier salesman to shill his shares to all and sundry last year.

Yet nothing apart from a hedge fund that wouldn't buy the club outright and a local lawyer.

Oh yeah, and a representative of one of the richest men in the world. Or was that Tommac?

Never said it would be easy - only said that with enough desire and will - we can find a buyer. Hedge Fund or not - would you rather be in Coventry's place right now or Saints?

I know it's a repeated theme...apologies, but it's the only hope we have left and the only thing that can unite the club towards one single aim... survival.

I have seen no better idea yet. But I hope to. Until then... lets find a buyer and not just roll over as Lowe tells us our club has officially died adn it's all Crouch's fault etc etc etc

When my kids keep asking are we there yet, it ususally leads to some sort of action. :) By god, we need action.
