BBC News - Why Arsenal and Man City are bringing back long-ball football - BBC Sport
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cvg00wx7j42o

This is an interesting article citing City and Arsenal's change in approach this season to counter the well drilled high press and low block that has increasingly been adopted by more physical teams to defeat the high possession tip-tap approach that they have favoured in successive seasons.

Maybe it's the only way we can get out of our Martin inspired rut. Judging by Still's ability to coach anything, I'm not so sure.

But it's an interesting article nonetheless. Enjoy.

Blaming everything on Martin is tedious and lazy.

he was in charge for 18 months, and half the team now had little/nothing to do with him, with a few managers in/out since he was here.

what we have this season is a manager so far out of his depth it is embarrassing, and he is throwing any old cliche to give himself space. Our fan base is so noddy that we generally accept shite time and time again.

I’m going full MLG here.

‘Going long’ is a form of playing out from the back.

Playing out from the back is often confused with playing/building through the thirds.

Right up there with half space.

Blimey, we're going back to lumping it long to the big guy up front - wonder what will happen to Russball when even his mate Pep is ditching playing out from the back. Lump it long, win the second ball and swarm forward in numbers is the way forward - shame we don't have a big strong centre forward at the club.

Stop being so harsh on yourself mate... Unless you're not referring to the whole fan base, of course... ;)
