lordswoodsaints Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 to the severity of our situation? tbh todays result was unexpected and we actually played really well,it was hard to pick a motm as it could have gone to about 5 or 6 players which is a good indication of how the game went. to a neutral it would have looked as if we were the team challenging for promotion and preston the team fighting for survival, their fans were very quiet and their team very bad. has anything changed apart from the fact we have gained 3 valuable points? i hope that things have turned a corner but we will have to wait and see ,personally i think it is a case of 'one swallow does not a summer make',we need todays attitude for every game until the end of the season and im sure we will survive, anything less will result in relegation. keep up the good work. Give it to Ron Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 For me its in the word tactics at long last at home! We play high pressing game with a bit battling up front coupled with Saga's quality and we reap the dividends. Bringing on a bit of height to bolster the defence as well kep it safe. If we can get to the byeline a bit more and get Lloyd and Rudi crossing further up and not give the defenders half an hour to see the cross then we score far more IMO. I thought getting the playes in a huddle after they scored was superb and left no-one in doubt what their role was.
70's Mike Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 because of Euell we could play the ball forward and not sideways, by occupying their center backs he created space for the Saga and others. today we passed for an end product not just to keep poessions
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 If the players have woken up let's hope it's not too late . sidthesquid Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 I've thought over the last few games and particularly today that McG has finally grasped what is required to be a footballer - ie graft & effort and concentration and not just step-overs and backflicks. I hope I'm right. On today's evidence, Lallana is learning that, too

70's Mike Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 or is it because the older players are finally being listened to and telling the youngers ones that you make me look a pratt by a stupid back flick ot step over and i will give you a good hiding
egreog Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 It is an excellent result, however unexpected by most fans. however, Saints need a string of these sort of results now, and that will be the critical issue.......... for too long they have flattered to deceive in this area.........the next game will tell if its a trend or just a one off as per Reading away
StuRomseySaint Posted 21 February, 2009 Share Posted 21 February, 2009 Realistic view. Today was like Jade Goody being told a week ago she only had 1 month to live, only to be told today, she might last 6 weeks. Whether it takes 1 month or 6 weeks, the club is still dieing.
