hamster Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 What would people consider would be the absolute worst case scenario come the start of season. If my club exists in any form, in any league, with any manager, with any players and playing on any football pitch anywhere, I will know that it could have been worse. So I will enjoy another 90 minutes of the single most important thing in my life after my family, The Saints. I am starting to feel better and for the first time in a few years I have started to think that future generations of Saints fans, will hear stories of the day that Saints ALMOST dissappeared forever. We are priviliged as Saints fans today in that we are living through THE singlemost important days of this club's history since it was born in 1885 as Southampton Saint Mary's. We my friends have been called to arms, get behind the cause. Come On You Saints
Smirking_Saint Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 Completely agree, in every sense, with every word. My complete opinion is, as much as i don't really want it, i would accept ANY1 as an alternative to no club.
Deppo Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 I understand your point, Hamster, though I'd prefer it if it didn't have to come to this...
AlfredKo Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 God bless Saints for getting away tomorrow. No point deduction and 3 points at Watford. Then everything can still be in our own hands.

alpine_saint Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Worse case scenario is that the club is wound up and SMS is sold for redevelopment, totally erasing 124 years of history. But I dont think it will come to that, somehow. I expect us to start League 1 with a 10-17 point deduction, and someone to rescue the club and reach an "arrangement" to use SMS. What we do for a team next season, however...

What we do for a team next season, however... I think we close are to the brink. However, Like Alps, I see league 1 definitely, maybe with a 15 point deduction. i do also see a new broom sweeping clean, I see the youngsters mixed with old heads again doing the job in league. I see the club being run properly again on a soundish financial footing albeit having leased the stadium back, and the good times to start again slowly!! the most important factor is we will have aclub to support!! brightspark Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 I would probably take League 1 without a points deduction. Things that are worse that I would not like to see include: League 2 or below League 1 with any points deduction Championship with a substantial points deduction The most important thing for me is that we start next season with zero, like everyone else. If we don't, for me it will devalue the season, and being out here in Australia I fear my commitment to Saints may dwindle. Next season needs to be one where the fans start to unite again, where we all have confidence in who is running the club, where we have a normal manager who stays for the entire season with some normal professional and not overpaid players, and where we actually have a feel good season!!!
