There's a qoute from RA from his time at Mitjyland saying something like your eyes lie to you when watching a player, so they dont hence why its done on data analysis
-
It helps that their physically suited to epl not like we were
-
Phillipe Clement was available

Thats what I meant, with the 4 it allows the extra body in midfield, think it was Mainoo. So the overall formation looked so much more balanced , we suffer from getting overrun in midfield , if we sat a 2 of Jander/Downes/Charles/Bragg in front of a 4 of Jelert/THB/Quarshie/? Then play Leo/Stewart or AA/ Fellows .... why wouldn't that work
-
It wasn't even the 4atb its the fact they closed off the centre of the pitch with their extra midfielder, sat in, let city try and break them down and hit them on counter with their pace, they did it extremely well and it could've been 4 or 5. We have the players to play that bar questions over left back so there isn't a valid reason why we couldn't play that
-
No no no its nothing to do with formations and managers as some would believe on here
-
Nothing to do with the fact he scored 4/5 in the cup against a 3rd division French side just before we bought him
-
People do forget we were poor under RK at a point he was going out the door at Christmas time until results massively improved

It wont be

This article will ring true to a lot of people on here.
danjosaint replied to Hawkswood's topic in The Saints
Both really good articles and a lot rings true -

There is a post/qoute somewhere of RAs time at Mityjland saying something like i tell the coaches to believe in the process it will come good or something like that
-
What a goal
-
Formations dont matter, have you not realised that yet
-
A bit like Amorim, 1st time in 18mths played a 4231 against Newcastle, got the 3 points, then prompty changed back to 3/5 the following game and were awful and held 1v1 by Wolves as they didnt control the midfield
-
And the fact that Strasbourg and Chelsea are owned by same management company So effectively interal promotion
-
Looks like Wood walked off saying ' fucking shit pass' lol
-
Nesta, Costacurta, Terry, Hierro and Kohler all no good as they were an inch off
-
I can't stand the 3/5 at the back but also agree 433 wont work because of our fbs so to me it has to be a 4231 or even a 4141 the issue with latter is we haven't the Rodri type player to take the ball from cbs on the half turn to feed the more creative guys, if it were to be Downes it would just be recycled to THB who suddenly thinks he can ping 60yd cross field balls like he did yesterday and pretty much all went out of play or lost possession
-
Lydon dykes to come on and bully Stephens for the winner
-
McCarthy Jelert THB Quarshie ? Downes Jander Fellows Azaz Leo AA So you can clearly fit them in playing a 4, also if the 3 are a bit offensive then move Jander into Azaz position, then Bragg/Charles/Romeu(if fit) can fill in. Granted we need a bigger better 9 and a fit Jelert/Roeslav to attempt to have a couple of fb's
-
Was it not 'out there' that he said the data supports 3/5atb
-
Apart from 4atb gives you and extra person in midfield, which is why we can get over run, keeps full backs back slightly so Manning wont get caught up field like he does, releases Fellows into his favoured position, 'should' be better communication from 2 cbs between themselves for who goes/drops/picks up unless we go zonal. Less space in behind to put in all these crosses and gives you options of 433, 4231 4141 all whilst trying to build a somewhat as best we can cb pairing which granted is difficult

Wasn't Turki al sheik rumoured to be looking for a football club to buy
