  1. From the Laws: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/footballdevelopment/refereeing/02/36/01/11/27_06_2014_new--lawsofthegameweben_neutral.pdf "Advantage The referee may play advantage whenever an infringement or offence occurs. The referee should consider the following circumstances in deciding whether to apply the advantage or stop play: • the severity of the offence: if the infringement warrants an expulsion, the referee must stop play and send off the player unless there is a subsequent opportunity to score a goal • the position where the offence was committed: the closer to the opponent’s goal, the more effective it can be • the chances of an immediate, promising attack • the atmosphere of the match The decision to penalise the original offence must be taken within a few seconds. If the offence warrants a caution, it must be issued at the next stoppage. However, unless there is a clear advantage, it is recommended that the referee stops play and cautions the player immediately. If the caution is NOT issued at the next stoppage, it cannot be shown later." Injured Players: The referee must adhere to the following procedure when dealing with injured players: • play is allowed to continue until the ball is out of play if a player is, in the opinion of the referee, only slightly injured • play is stopped if, in the opinion of the referee, a player is seriously injured• after questioning the injured player, the referee may authorise one, or at most two doctors, to enter the fi eld of play to assess the injury and arrange the player’s safe and swift removal from the fi eld of play • stretcher-bearers should only enter the fi eld of play with a stretcher following a signal from the referee • the referee must ensure an injured player is safely removed from the fi eld of play • a player is not allowed to receive treatment on the fi eld of play • any player bleeding from a wound must leave the fi eld of play. He may not return until the referee is satisfi ed that the bleeding has stopped. A player is not permitted to wear clothing with blood on it • as soon as the referee has authorised the doctors to enter the fi eld of play, the player must leave the fi eld of play, either on a stretcher or on foot. If a player does not comply, he must be cautioned for unsporting behaviour • an injured player may only return to the fi eld of play after the match has restarted • when the ball is in play, an injured player must re-enter the fi eld of play from the touch line. When the ball is out of play, the injured player may reenter from any of the boundary lines • irrespective of whether the ball is in play or not, only the referee is authorised to allow an injured player to re-enter the fi eld of play • the referee may give permission for an injured player to return to the fi eld of play if an assistant referee or the fourth offi cial verifi es that the player is ready if play has not otherwise been stopped for another reason, or if an injury suffered by a player is not the result of a breach of the Laws of the Game, the referee must restart play with a dropped ball from the position of the ball when play was stopped, unless play was stopped inside the goal area, in which case the referee drops the ball on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the ball was located when play was stopped • the referee must allow for the full amount of time lost through injury to be played at the end of each period of play• once the referee has decided to issue a card to a player who is injured and has to leave the fi eld of play for treatment, the referee must issue the card before the player leaves the fi eld of play Exceptions to this ruling are to be made only when: • a goalkeeper is injured • a goalkeeper and an outfi eld player have collided and need immediate attention • players from the same team have collided and need immediate attention • a severe injury has occurred, e.g. swallowed tongue, concussion, broken leg
  2. It used to be the case that when time was added was at the ref's discretion and they were allowed to add first half injury time on at the end of the game, though it appears to have been standardised, thoguh the Laws only say: "Allowance for time lost Allowance is made in either period for all time lost through: • substitutions • assessment of injury to players • removal of injured players from the fi eld of play for treatment • wasting time • any other cause The allowance for time lost is at the discretion of the referee." http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/footballdevelopment/refereeing/02/36/01/11/27_06_2014_new--lawsofthegameweben_neutral.pdf
  3. I didn't see much of the West Brom match, but having seen what Pelle was doing against Palace by hovering near the keeper as he kicks the ball - if he was doing that against West Brom I'm not surprised the ref didn't penalise Foster for timewasting. Every time he goes near the keeper he's potentially resetting that 6 second clock. The laws are pretty clear that players are not allowed to challenge the keeper in possession of the ball, and "closing him down" as he's about to kick is impeding his ability to clear the ball. Under those circumstances the keeper gets his 6 seconds all over again. It's completely counterproductive, as if he actually manages to get in the way (which he is clearly trying NOT to do, just to make the keeper think about his presence), Pelle will be booked anyway. He's actually raised his foot once or twice to mimick blocking the clearance, which is more than enough to get booked nowadays.
  4. Head injuries the ref is OBLIGED to stop the match immediately - that's another one multiple refs have been ignoring to our cost this season. Oh, and to add to the moan-fest, I ran a timer on the 4 added minutes from the exact second the board went up, we played more than 10 extra seconds - the reason being? Because Martin Atkinson DIDN'T BOTHER TO CHECK HIS WATCH until the extra 10 seconds had ticked by. He checked when the ball went out and blew immediately, even though the ball was in a neutral area of the pitch dead on the 4 minutes. Not as bad as the couple of times this season the ref has played nearly an additional minute when there have been minor stoppages in injury time, but still enough extra to have conceded a goal, when he should have blown right on the dot. And yes, I know it's a "minimum" of 4 minutes, but he just didn't check.
  5. 1. The advantage where Djurcic was on the floor was fine, but he definitely should have gonwe back and booked the Palace player later. The other one, I think Bertrand or Mane was going sideways and had to check back, definitely no advantage and should have given the foul. 2. Forster actually had the ball in his hands for one, the ref let him clear it, blew for the injury stoppage when it was in midfield and then we gave them the ball back, which was insane, as them putting it back to Forster would have put it exactly where it was when he should have blown.
  6. Obviously. Because the point of shooting is to score. The rest of your post was superfluous, you're still statistically better having one shot from a yard than ten from 30 yards in terms of likelihood of scoring. Which, again, is the point.
  7. Finally found one which confirms there's still some form of European regulations - Athletic Bilbao have a red patch in Europe: But their La Liga 2014/15 shirt has a different sponsor and no red patch on the back: I haven't found many adidas examples yet...
  8. Porto v Shakhtar sees Porto with a white panel, and Shakhtar with a single coloured shirt back: But then Porto also have the panel in the Portuguese League: And Shakhtar are playing in this in the Ukranian Premier League too: None of which helps...
  9. Just realised that either they've changed the number regulations for the Champions League or Barcelona are just ignoring them (obviously their numbers are clearly visible but that wasn't the rule, it was that it had to be on a single colour panel): Atletico Madrid are wearing a white patch in the CL: but they're also doing that in La Liga, so you can't make any assumptions about UEFA regulations: and they also have additional ads on their socks in the Copa Del Rey, FWIW:
  10. They may use the opportunity to market a third kit, as adidas usually only provide two new ones a season. In terms of European regulations, the number has to be on a coloured panel for visibility, so I would expect probably the same shirt design but with a red or white back panel, and probably adidas numbers rather than Premier League ones. I may Google for some examples from this season.
  11. It is a bit weird, but as you say, probably due to the single MLS contract. They clearly bother to do similar in Europe for SOME teams, hence the tweaks to standard templates for Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern etc., but the effort for most just involves using mix and match template pieces and maybe a jazzy screen print.
  12. Portland Timbers 2015/16, also showing a different shorts style - with a narrow hoop around the top of the short (see pic left). Ties in with the shirts with the tape around the bottom, to give a similar effect whether shirt is tucked in or not (i.e. they don't actually go with this shirt style properly!). Also another alternative sock style.
  13. Not at all. Last season's were broad, equal-sized hoops, with a three-stripe turnover.
  14. They can, but they very tangibly didn't in 2013/14.
  15. Real Salt Lake away - more interesting for the shorts style with the contrast trim around the bottom, and the hooped socks than anything else - those socks would look decent in red and white... Chicago Fire away shows one of the other adidas shorts templates for 2015/16, though the socks look bespoke.
  16. In case anyone is wondering the sort of detailing that makes a shirt "not a teamwear kit", this is the kind of thing adidas can do if they're asked to:
  17. No difference NOW, but a bloody handy thing to have to get us out of L1 and the Championship and get established in the Prem.
  18. From this position, with the fixtures we have, we still have every chance of finishing in the top 4. Our current form needs to change very quickly, of course, so we can go back to beating bottom half sides with the regularity we were doing it for the first 4 months of the season. Another couple of runs of 4 wins on the bounce like we've managed already will see us in with a chance.
  19. I'd rather one shot from a yard out than 10 from 30 yards. So you appear a bit simple for not understanding this.
  20. Ditto with Montreal - same long sleeve style as the purple Orlando shirt above.
  21. Probably a unique women's collar for the Mexico women's kit - but interesting to see what the long sleeved version of these shirts look like:
  22. I don't know how to break this to you, but the ball is rarely in play for much more than 60 of those 90 minutes in ANY match, never mind one where a team is actively wasting it.

    Keep calm

Would be nice to get hold of Dutchman Bas Dost from the Bundesliga though...
  24. Well, this can't happen any more...
  25. The original document with helpful pictures is here (ignore the first two pages, which are in Spanish - unless you can read Spanish of course). http://kassiesa.net/uefafiles/2015-18-uefa-access-list-explanations.pdf For the lolz, it is also VERY VERY clear about which season it is that the Europa League winners qualify for the Champions League. It's on Page 4, I won't spoil it here.
