  1. Signed last minute, but who knows how long we were working on those deals.
  2. Looks pretty impressive. Better than Alberto that's for sure.
  3. Ha. If we have that sort of money then a cheeky try for Santiago Gimenez...
  4. Did they play for a Brazilian side?
  5. Those deals take a while to sort out, so we'd have been in discussion for some time...and we'd of heard about it earlier.
  6. To who? Sounds like the interested clubs like West Ham, who will have enquired/talked to his agent decided to spend on alternatives, perhaps partly because we wouldn't let him go on the cheap and partly because they got their preferred option. I know deals do happen on the last day, but how many 'start' on the last day? Won't there have been some prior communication? It sounds like there is none, hence Russ saying he's staying. I've jinxed it now haven't I?
  7. I remember two days ago that Russ said we won't be spending £30m on a player.
  8. if he wont sign a new deal, as rumoured, then its more a case of him being likely to go rather than us wanting him to.
  9. Ah. That's not good. I thought it was just down to Moyes discovering he wasn't 6'3 so couldn't find a spot in his land of giants.
  10. Decent player. Plenty of games under his belt. Reasonably tall and rangey. Has the ability on the ball we need, and drop his shoulder, come inside and get out of trouble (like KWP does). Very right footed. Can't see us signing him while we have three right backs at the club.
  11. He thought he'd get first team games last season, didn't, and therefore wants to move to get game time now rather than in two years time. I think the words "unlikely to sign a new contract" were bandied around, so maybe we will try to see rather than pick up the compensation, which won't be huge.
  12. If you move BBD out the left where he has played and Onuachu and Stewart actually depart (as your spreadsheet suggests) then the CF position is the `weak spot'.
  13. Thought Cornet was someone we should have gone for when Burnley went down, but we didn't have the funds. Not worked out at West Ham, which is a worry, but players coming in from abroad often take a while to settle, so he might at least hit the ground running...which is what we need.
  14. I was going to suggest Manning out and Omar Richards straight in, but Richards has joined Rio Ave in Portugal on loan for the season.
  15. He'll have to earn the place back with us rather than live off past performances and any big club `boost' you might get.
  16. With results probably not going our way every week, we are going to need some positivity around the training ground to keep people going.
  17. Has Carsley just picked players that are playing? Good news for us. It will be interesting to see if he makes the next squad.
  18. Quite like him as a person. Proper shithouse on the field though. Kind of surprised Everton have managed to get a fee for him. Or did his goal draught come to an end last season?
  19. that would be the kind of ruthless some have called for. Only making the bench yesterday was a clear sign he isn't getting any game time this season unless injuries occur. Also, maybe a sign there is movement with Fraser - assuming we are still interested.
  20. I'm with you on Edozie. I love that he is willing to try to beat players, but his judgement as to what is achievable isn't great, which leads to him running into the second or third defender. He could make it as Prem player, but I didn't see any real improvement over the course of last season. He might simply just not be quite good enough. I'm not Fraser's biggest fan. He's too ordinary for my taste, lacking pace and tracks. I think his crossing is overrated, but what he does do is make lost of off the ball runs on the shoulder of the full back. Some are found some not, but he at least is giving midfielders an option. As we saw with England this summer, if you don't have the off ball movement, the ballplayers have no one to pass to. We seemed to be loaded with decent (for the championship) wide player last season, but we have failed to upgrade ion that position and now look a little flat. If we continue to pose little threat, it won't be long before people are calling to see Sulemana get another chance!
  21. I chose Lallana.
  22. Isn't he basically the first reserve CM? Why would they let him go?
  23. While we are are all patting ourselves on the back, I'd like to hold my hands up and say that, with the McCarthy two year deal I didn't think we'd get a first choice keeper in. Looks like I couldn't have been more wrong. Assuming we are not paying McCarthy the earth and Lumley is on buttons, the challenge and cost of bringing in keepers for all Prem clubs this summer may explain why we didn't completely reboot the keeping unit with three new guys.
  24. Trabzonspor president Doğan's comments in relation to Onuachu: "Onuachu is also our coach's first request. We are talking to him. He is also telling his club. We made a serious offer.," "We made an offer with 6 million euros and bonuses. His club's demand of 15 million euros continues. "The transfer period is ending. I think it will result positively with a loan or purchase like the last time. Our talks are ongoing."
  25. Went back and read the Russ transfer comments from the interviews yesterday. Does loaning Ramsey fit his statement: "A couple of years ago it was about spending money for here and now to stay in the league. This time we haven't done that. That has been agreed by us. We're not just going to go all in for one season and put the club in a difficult position further down the line. Doesn't seem to align. Perhaps if there is a permanent move afterwards?
