  1. I think that is fair comment. The bid for O'Riley was reported at about £15m. I think the Carvalho bid was something similar. I am guessing we moved on from O'Riley to Carvalho rather than wanting both, but I could be wrong. They were opening bids, so maybe we have a few more quid available at this specific point, who knows, but additional funds will need to come from sales - and we can't be sure they will happen. It's understandable the club is holding out for reasonable prices for Onuachu, ABK and KWP. But it would be handy if at least one of those happen before transfer deadline day.
  2. Is he good enough for the Prem? I don't recall him troubling us in either game.
  3. If/when we loan in a keeper to be second or third choice, there is going to be a proper meltdown on here.
  4. No we dont. He wasn't faultless. None of his faults cost us. The other squad members helped us get there as much, if not way more.
  5. Early part if video is all basic saves. A couple of very good saves (especially the free kick at 4:55, but a pretty horrible spill at 2:00. All keepers make errors I suppose. Did he play in the friendly?
  6. Let's hope AA or Stewart score 20 goals this season and then maybe we get a £60m transfer fee for one of them. The next O'Riley on the block will be a lot easier to acquire then.
  7. Let's see if they actually bring in another keeper or not. When they signed McCarthy on a two year deal, I didn't think they would add another, but they still might. If they don't then our keeping situation is on RM. In his defence, we are faced by tricky finances, so not easy to bring in quality players, but I struggle to see how a Prem side, with a £114m wage bill (or whatever it will be this season) can have McCarthy, Lumley and Baz as their squad of keepers.
  8. If he is on £120k a week, or maybe even more (who actually knows how much individuals earn?) thats £6.2m. Arsenal probably will want all of it paid and a loan fee on top of £5m-£10m. That's serious money for one year and will impact FFP. If we sign a player for £15m on a four year deal that will be £3.25m (per year to our FFP `tally') pus the wages, say £3m (£60k a week). I am sure the club would lie Ramsdale, but there will be a budget they must stick to. It's a financial balancing act.
  9. Can I ask who is Dean James and how does he possibly know that these two people have spoken (which they are not allowed to do, so aren't going to advertise the fact if they did)? I call complete and utter bullshit.
  10. SR? The only person that selects Baz is RM. He was RMs choice last season, although hampered a lot by finances and contracts. This season, it's a different matter. We had a completely clean slate this summer as both Lumley and McCarthy were out of contract. RM could do whatever he wanted in that position. Sign two keepers, sign one and loan one. Totally up to him where Baz would be placed in the pecking order. SR will no doubt have backed RM completely in his choice.
  11. Bloody nora. I didn't expect someone to come in and pay what Liverpool wanted. I'm running out of recommendations.
  12. Inside the club, the first team, the wider fan base or just on here?
  13. Looking at both windows, money was pretty tight (one in one out type moves), we didn't sign alternative players to them, so maybe we liked them but just weren't in for an attacking midfielder and a winger at that time. Shame.
  14. Cool. Not that it matters, but Shaw was on the bench for the first game, along with Davis and Lambert. Cork didn't play until November due to injury.
  15. Would have loved to see him in a Saints shirt. Not now though. His wages must be monstrous.
  16. Who says we have? We bid, they declined. We have since bid for Carvalho. Whether he's next on the list or as well, I'm not sure, but nothing to suggest time has stood still waiting for O'Riley situation to change.
  17. I'd say most on here are hopeful AA will work out this time around, especially if coming off the right. Not sure we know what to expect in a two man strike force. He looked settled and full of confidence. His finishing was so good at the back end of the season.
  18. I'm with you. Not sure I want us spending £27.5m on Carvalho though. £20m tops.
  19. Hard to have a good poker face when you have farmed them out on loan the previous season or they have a year left on their contract (refuse to sign another) and you've signed their replacement. I get your point though
  20. Boric was a fabulous signing. Big, massive presence like a Martinez for Villa. Ramsdale is that guy, but just in his prime, so too expensive. We so need to sign a monster to sort that position.
  21. Shame we didn't manage to get him in 2012. I'm sure we tried as we obviously recognised his outStanding talent in the promotion season games against them (man marking and double teaming him at Selhurst Park).
  22. Shaw at left back, surely?
  23. Lambert coming off the bench of course. Oh to sign someone like him in the next week or two.
  24. Some pretty solid bottom half sides on there. We will do well to beat those teams. It's going to be really tough to come above them. Leicester have the threat on the break that we lack. They were miles better than us. Ipswich fought to the end in every game, which was impressive, but I thought we were the better side. We'll finish above them, I hope
  25. Twas mentioned by a few. A lot of Prem sides must have scouted him.
