I think he'll certainly be a handful.

whoever gets the winner for us, i wanna see a Wayne Bridge-running-the-length-of-the-touchline-giving-it-the-big-one style celebration. Excited.

He was excellent at Sheff United. Ran the channels, worked his socks off, held the ball up really well and linked the play nicely. Couldn't have done much more. If his excellent strike had sneaked in this thread probably wouldn't exist. I said before we signed him that I was slightly worried by a lack of pace and ability to play on his own up front, but that game gave me some confidence. Ings link up play is very nice and tidy, but I don't see much else about his game that stands out over Adams. Give him time.

Harris suspended for Tuesday?

took about two minutes of his Saints debut to workout that he is amongst the slowest footballer ever to grace the Premier League. Nothing has changed. He does win some headers and the importance of that can be downplayed by fans, but at this level at the very least Id expect a defender to be decent in the air AND have a reasonable turn of pace. When you are having to hide a CB in a five man defence you now you have bought badly. And that is our problem. Buy badly, which leads to us having to compensate for weaknesses all over the pitch.

You mean Goldsmith Avenue of course. I will be very surprised not to see a school of fish ****ers floating around on Apsley Road and then Goldsmith Avenue after the game wanting to wish us all the best.

late goal saved him. silver linings.

I've been saying it ever since he first got fit after we signed him that the manager has to play him and keep on playing him. Giving him 20 minute cameos is no good, and starting him and then immediately dropping him should he not set the world on fire is no good either. Flair players need an arm round them and faith shown in them. Not all tricks come off and players need to be encouraged to keep trying.

just back from a Yorkshire weekend. Thought the front three really linked well together. There was one brilliant fast break in the second half, that included a deft touch from Boufal that could have easily led to a goal had Hoj picked a better pass. Not seen that kind of quick one touch stuff for a long time and at that point we looked a real threat. I dont know if we can repeat that agains the better sides, but it was great to watch and very encouraging. We are never going to be a top four side, but that shouldn't mean we can take teams on. To do that you need some flair up front and we seem to have found it. I know this might be a flash in the pan, but if not it will be a good season to follow us away from home.

That is sad news. Feels like his efforts were overshadowed a bit by Marcus' acquisition of the club, but they really shouldn't be. I will always be grateful for his generosity to the club in are hour of need.

The Harvester is miles from the ground. The Brewers Arms closed down ages ago. The Milton Arms is not a pub for away fans IMO.

I don't recall any Skates listening to excuses when they beat us 1-4 in the cup game. It's not our problem they are two leagues below. There are no excuses for either side. Winner takes all and it better be us. Biggest game of the year and everyone at the club needs to consider it in that light.

even if there isn't a bubble, there will still be club coaches with a police escort. This was the case in 2004, which didn't have a bubble.

me neither. We are often in a different league. So what? The games are huge and the atmosphere on a different level to the other games we play. The 'edge' these occasions have are something you just don't get in run of the mill league or cup games. It hurts like no other when you lose and the joy of winning lasts a long long time. If you don't appreciate how special these games are then I have to wonder what it is you are hoping to get from watching football. Each to their own I suppose. I've been to 12 derbies and they have all been supercharged affairs. You cant say that about many games these days.
-
shame they only allow 800 away fans
-
"Don't get the excitement"? You've been to the derby games right? The atmosphere is on a completely different level to all other games. This is the biggest game we play. win this game and its been a ****ing great season.
-
I'd be surprised if it wasn't a bubble game. The previous two games were. We'll get the whole of the Milton end, probably with the end sections kept empty, a shed load of the usual away fans will give it a wide berth and its live on SKY TV. Because of that I think it might even go to general sale (registered on the db of course).

Selling the white away kit in club shop. Sponsor logos in place... for now. Good luck if you wash it.

every season its the same against Burnley, we dominate possession for 45 minutes to an hour, make them look like a championship side...and then they step it up, we get bullied and they score. Our heads go down, our game plan goes out the window and we all wonder what the **** just happened.

I am surprised we brought anyone in to be honest, considering how tightly our hands were tied by the size of our squad and other clubs reluctance to take our deadwood on inflated wages. Great to get rid of some of that deadwood and to move on from players that simply were not good enough, but we really need a few more out the door and then to perform well so as to attract a fee. Time will tell on the signings. Fingers crossed Adams finds his feet at this level and starts to cause opponents a few problems. If he can stretch teams like Long does, but offer better finishing then that will change us big style. Great to get another shot at the CB position. Danso looks a more mobile than Vestergaard, but then again who isn't. We really need to move to four at the back, but that relies on having capable CBs (and cover in front of them). I feel enthused. Still nervous as to how the season will go, but feels like we are in better shape than we were. Lots of other teams can say the same though.
-
you don't think Austin was on fortune here? West Ham shirked at £100k a week. A tiny transfer fee meant he'd have been on a massive wages. Or did you mean that we probably had to pay him a massive pay off to leave and earn less at WBA, thus reducing the saving we made by offloading him?
-
are they working? Looked a bit dark. Perhaps they are still waiting for the Clarke money to pay the bill.

I think those of us that went to Fulham away last season certainly questioned his application. Only one game mind.
