I guess the argument might be that he should have come and saved us then. The long and short of it is he was probably offered a shed load more money by them, so it was a no brainer. Personally I'm ignoring all the "PR". He is actually excellent at that side of the football business and says exactly what fans want to hear. What he does on the pitch is what matters most though. As with all signings, I really hope he is a great success.

like it. Back to when we had top class fullbacks coming out of our ears
-
is he not going to benfica?

Angers seem to have announced Boufal

Can the keeper swap deal be done after todays deadline?

RLC to Fulham according to Matt Law at Telegraph

Yep. Mohomed. He had an experience. So I am told.
-
they ain't paying us a transfer fee AND matching his rumoured £65k a week wage. No chance.
-
You'd have to doubt that will happen at this late stage, but I guess until Hoedt and Carrillo moves were confirmed, the clubs hands were tied financially. Not now.

I think United wanted a guarantee he would play x games. Just the fact that they are talking of such things shows they are willing to loan him. Unless Williams is cover for their own right back, then he wont get any games at their place as he drops to third in the pecking order at left back.
-
Telles has signed for United. Williams deal back on, perhaps without the guarantee of games?
-
I am trying to think of `experienced' wingers we have signed over the years. He can't be worse than McCant, Ripley and Kanchelskis.

yeah me to. I really don't like those speedsters who don't seem to have the speed of thought to go with it, but I can see that teams need that variety of threat, not just players with good control. I'm picturing him making those rapid runs behind the fullback and JWP picking him out, or a CB pinging one into Adams and him flicking it round the corner for Walcott running beyond him. Not sure if Walcott puts the yards in going backwards, but we will see.

the one from the TV show Bread? If so, yes.

I know he is not getting a lot of love on here, but it will be nice to have a player happy to be here and someone who will give everything for the club in an attempt to get a new contract. We missed out on seeing anything of his best in a Saints short due to the money issues we had at the time, and no one should forget the favour he did us by signing that first contract with us that effectively forced arsenal to hand us £10m or whatever it was. He couLd have easily have just signed with them. So the sentimental side of me thinks it will be nice to see him in a Saints shirt again. I think it's not the worst signing in the world, especially as its a loan.

I'm not Walcott's greatest fan, but he is very similar to Armstrong in that his greatest strength is his off the ball running. You do need players to make runs and give players with the ball options. We have at times been far too static, passing in front of teams (and backwards). Walcott and Amstrong make those runs in behind, working midfielders and opponents. Making them run towards their own goal. Keeping them from pressing us. Without Amstrong we often struggle, so perhaps we have found the right man to cover/replace him when injured?
-
"by the sound of it" - what makes you say that? I don't doubt you're right though. Prices and wages of players cheaper.
-
I've seen him play, many times. He's the most two footed fullback I've seen for a long time. He gets the byeline and crosses with his left foot. You are right that he's a right back that filled in at left back when Shaw was injured, but he has played left back and did a very good job there when called into the first team. Not sure what you mean about him playing most of united games recently. He's not played any Prem games this season. United agreed a fee for Telles today.
-
Williams is a fantastic prospect. Two footed, very attacking fullback. Get forward, whips in crosses and causes problems. He was their MOTM againnst Burnley last season and in general did OK in all the games he played. I don't think Shaw was an improvement when he came back to fitness. They might have been a bit more solid, but mostly because Shaw never really charges forward any more. Not sure how far Vokes is away from being good enough for the Prem, but if not close enough this would be a good signing for us. Not sure how likely it is as United would want him to get games.
-
Armstrong in the side and we often win. He didn't have his most impactful game, but his running beyond players makes opponents track him. He makes them work hard in the wrong direction. Subtle things like that have an impact. We lose a little of the flair with him, but we gain. He's a kind of Freddie Ljungberg style. Needs players to feed his runs, but equally he makes the runs that ball players need.

Chelsea didn't beat them. No easy games...but we made it look pretty easy. Need to sort out defending those free kicks and from our own corners. Good to see Redmond back. Djenepo was shoddy, goal apart. Happy days. Tougher games to come...and no doubt some defeats. But maybe we have found some of that form we had afte the break
-
what an excellent display. Didn't give WBA a chance to get into the game, except for two poorly defended free kicks. Lots to like. We will win and lose games. We are not top class. But lets enjoy each win.

no, an away game with Adkins in charge, a Monday night possibly. We were all over the place, completly lost. terrible, Adkins had to go, btu then he started to get performances shrtly after
-
cheers. We just needed time to find our feet...

brilliant start to their season. Teams beating each other makes it interesting.
