  1. doesn't the journey lose a bit of magic if you know the destination is ****?
  2. I thought Danso, when he came on, looked a little loose with the ball, which made me nervous, but he at least seemed to have the size and physicality we have been missing for several years. Hard to say if he is good enough to play at CB in the Prem straight away, but seeing as we loaned him you'd think that is what Ralf had in mind. Looking forward to seeing us go for it next week. McCarthy made a couple of errors, but is the right choice. We have some choices to make at the back and up front. Ralf needs to get them right.
  3. wish the Saints could cheer me up as much as the skates keep doing.
  4. if we don't stay up we could well go into financial meltdown. Besides, if you don't want to be in the top flight, what is the point of it all? Don't answer that. There is no point to all.
  5. The effort was there, but if we hadn't scored the early goal we would be moaning about a complete lack of adventure or effort to score. It was better than during the week, but not a lot. We were encamped in our own half and reliant on City NOT taking their chances. Eventually they did. Don't get me wrong, I am pleased to see the likes of Romeu and JWP chucking themselves in front shots, but that bravery needs to be matched on the ball. Time after time we just hoofed it nowhere or in to touch instead of having the bravery to keep the ball, draw the foul and at least try to make the odd break away. City are top class, but they are still human and susceptible to concede on the break. I guess we had the goal and just shut up shop, but we have to do more when we have the ball. At Everton we cant have ten man behind the ball. One positive was Djenepo when he came on. Boy does he look full of confidence and he MUST start next week. With a solid base behind him, we can win that game.
  6. Lee Mason is giving us nothing
  7. what a difference getting a goal and something to hang on to make not only to the performance but to how we perceive the side. We have hardly got out of our own half, but when you are in front you can live with it. Want to see Redmond try to beat two or three on the break. He has it in him to score a wonder goal and seal an amazing win. COYR
  8. I wonder if they need to buy all 35 houses on Alverstone Road that back onto the Milton end for this 15,000 seater stand (or is that the new North Stand?)? If they have bought all of those sold since Disney took over, they will have 6 to date. At this rate just the ten years to get them all - unless a Southampton property owner sticks a spanner in the works and gazumps them. Or are they buying the industrial units on Rodney Road?
  9. Ive been pointing out JWP inability to get close to an opponent since he got in the first team. Our entire midfield is full of mediocre athletes that don't put teams under pressure, give the ball away too often, get tired trying to get the ball back before leaving huge gaps to exploit. We badly need some legs in there with some quality too. Shame Lemina didn't work out. No idea why we did not look to replace him thus summer.
  10. we really might as well have just forfeited. Get amongst them FFS.
  11. a back 10 more like. What a surrender. You'd think it was a non league side up against City, not a team with a £120m wage bill.
  12. nearly all will be northern based Saints fans, who wont be put off.
  13. Recruitment is everything. If you bring in two or three players that go straight into the first team and improve the side, then you move forward. We buy players that don't get in the side or do, but are worse than what we had before. Multiply that by 5 years and you have 10-15 players that are worse than you had before. Which is exactly what we have. There isn't a player in this side that would get into the side of five or six years ago. The loss of quality at centre half is scary. We have gone from the likes of Fonte, Lovren, Alderweireld and VVD to Vestegaard, Yoshida, Bednerek, Stevens and Danso. It's now difficult to pinpoint who is to blame for this, but is probably the entire board, management, coaching and scouting teams. Add to that, we have failed to develop any more genuine Premiership stars, having sold all of those we did develop. You can't expect to produce a Luke Shaw every other year and Premiership clubs like Chelsea, expanding their reach, seem to be taking the top youth talent that we we previously signing. We have lost ground and that will require new investment and massive improvements or our famed reputation for developing talent will start to become history.
  14. financial suicide
  15. would we have bought better if we had more money to spend, or just wasted more money? Recruitment has been horrific and it's been a while now since a star has come through the academy.
  16. they only sell them because ****s buy them. Same with the terrible shirts, overpriced tickets, refreshments.
  17. more like a Sunderland...close to relegation for several years and then...
  18. the problem is every single player we have in the squad does those little things worse than the players we used to have here five years ago. First touches are worse, body positions, pace, anticipation, strength...the list goes on and now to add to that collectively the team's confidence looks shot too.
  19. that is one of the worst pieces of team defending i have seen for many years. Absolute fecking ****e...no, hang on I spoke too soon.
  20. would be surprised if there are a few less of the bestest attending **** park tonight. Come on the Imps.
  21. Possibly. They may have given up with actual paid journalists and just publish articles sent in by the public. Not a great deal of difference in quality between this and the garbage Allen et al produce so hard to say.
  22. You find the strangest things being sold on the interweb
  23. Small world. I used to go and watch them every now and then with my Grandad when I visited. Sadly he passed last year, so I doubt I will ever make the trip up to Harrogate again or watch them. I continue to check their results though. They've won the last four or five I think? Will you go and cheer them on against the saktes? Lovely part of the world.
  24. Conference Premier Harrogate town in the FA cup. Town have a decent side this year and they are in great form. Decent chance of an upset I'd say.
