  1. preferred the days when we were shouting "scummer" at Darren Anderton myself.
  2. love his athleticism and ability with the ball, but his decision-making (on occasion - sometimes it is the team not offering something and him trying to do too much) and positional play undermines these positives to such a degree that you wonder if he will ever make it in the Premiership. There is an absolute diamond in there, but how do you overcome the negatives? Coaching? He's 25, so you'd have to wonder if he will ever change his style. Perhaps a different position such as a more forward role? I hate seeing raw talent go to waste. Him and Boufal have it in abundance, and they can unlock a defence by beating a man all ends up. But the team needs to work as a unit and flair players, which both are, needs to be slotted into a side in such a way that their weaknesses dont effect the team.
  3. yeah, strange he has been so quiet

Blues fans think £15m fee is a steal by the way. Not totally unsurprising, but they know a player when they see one (well, the bluenoses I know anyway).
  5. never liked him as a player, too slow, too weak, too passive and lacked a real football brain IMO. If we want to do better and win more games we simply need better players than Targett. We need to stop `settling' for OK and start signing players that the top six want. Onwards and upwards...hopefully.

I posted as such several weeks ago. Jutkiewicz did the legwork and had a decent season. Adams on his own in a tougher league is a lot of new ground. I'm with you, a side that cant pass City et al off the park could do with a plan B route 1 option. Adams wont win more headers than Austin, which was **** all. Looking forward to a new option up front though. He's an Austin with a a bit more pace, though not lightening by any means. Hope he shines. Glad to see us looking at the lower leagues. There is talent there.
  7. it is genuine. The one in the club shop window looks exactly like this...it probably is the one in the club shop window.
  8. what a result for Saints that would be. Targett is not the answer at fullback. There are worse players, but if you want to beat the top sides you have to aim higher. Lets use it to get some pace and power
  9. Palace weaker, no doubt about it. Good for us.
  10. first season maybe not, but he'd hope to stay longer and not being able to revamp will give him some breathing space as expectations will be low. Maybe he has the talent there already anyway?
  11. imagine him up against Targett.
  12. looked like he had never played football before.
  13. hard to top that, but I'd like to chuck Ian Andrews' display away at QPR many moons ago now. I've never seen a Saints keeping display quite like it. The goal he let through his legs made Taibi's **** up look professional. Can't recall if he played again. If he did he shouldnt have.
  14. someone with OCD?
  15. last point is key. Complete cost over course of the contract is what really matters to the finance bods.

any idea of the fee agreed?
  17. will be interesting to see how he fairs. Both Diop and Jullien were there for the taking from Toulouse, but we went for Vesterguaard instead. Diop looked decent to me in his first season at West Ham.

it was a dream come true (air traffic control strike apart). Shame it was pretty empty apart from us and we didn't get the result we deserved. Amazing experience all the same.

after season ticket holders I assume?
  20. agreed. No chance now, sadly. Should have bought him at the time anyway as he often played in the middle. Would have been a much better option than Hoedt and provided an automatic replacement for Bertie (not to mention cover). I think the £25m+ price tag back then may have been prohibitive, but we should have pushed the boat out and saved elsewhere.
  21. its not hard to make me angry these days, but those two decisions take the **** in terms of ineptitude.
  22. and that Tadic went on to have an amazing season at Ajax. Regarding Moi, do you have any hope that he needed a season to settle in to the new style and pace of the Premiership? I have to admit that in a few games I saw him live I thought he began brightly, doing some good stuff, before fading away somewhat. I wondered if there wasn't a player in there somewhere. I didn't think he was that bad, really. Pretty much every man and his dog on here says he is ****, but I wondered if that might be the unforgiving crowd watching another season of relative durge. I didn't see as many games live as others so I bow down to those that did who will be better positioned than I to judge, but any hope at all?
  23. Good point. I still cant quite get my head round us selling Tadic for that amount. I know he didn't have a good season prior to it, but even so... I suspect we are desperate to get him off the wage bill and we will take a cut price for hi. We will then watch him run rings round opponents for the rest of his career wondering what might have been...
  24. felt like a player we should have signed due to our previous `raids', but as we became less desirable he became more appreciated. Missed a lot of football last season due to his hernia, but possibly the best player in Scotland right now.
  25. assuming it was down to him, showed a very good eye with the loan signings he brought to Derby last summer. If and when he gets that chance, spotting quality is half the battle.
