  1. I agree. It's no certain he will depart, but when the noise is this loud it usually means a deal is done or close to being completed (perhaps waiting for Saints to complete the signing of his replacement). Some press stories are obvious agent plants. This doesn't feel like that.
  2. maybe, but perhaps not in the transfer market where the likes of Krcic, Imbula, Jese, Berahino and Wimmer have been utter failures. How much input and say he had in each is always difficult to know as an outsider, but the Stoke chairman was quite ruthless when sacking him and that might point ot he fact that Hughes had got his men and they hadnt been money well spent. I assume Hughes will have a major say in transfers at Saints?
  3. Can we replace the only player we have with a world class first touch (and feint) with someone with attributes that are equally or indeed more beneficial to the side as a whole? Tadic has his limitations, but we have several players that don't have any assets at all that I'd like to see depart before him. That said, we can become far too attached to players already at the club. The question therefore is, and always is, how will he be replaced? I don't think we can suffer yet more erosion of quality. We only just survived last season. It wasn't all down to the manager. We must strengthen, somehow, otherwise expect more of the same.
  4. if he is on say, £60k a week here, then it will have to be one hell of a cut for a completely skint Rangers to be a factor. I cant see him going anywhere, which is a problem.
  5. fair point. Massive blind spot in the Prem.
  6. Better still, use it as a down payment for Matthijs de Ligt.
  7. are either really top draw? Considering the wealth of Premiership sides, shouldn't the quality of squad players be much much higher?
  8. If he is the replacement for Davis as many on this thread are suggesting, does that mean Davis is actually leaving? He has been terrific for us, all be it a poor last season, but if he legs hve gone then I can't see anyone interested that can actually afford his wages, thus he will see his contract out.
  9. if that is a true reflection of the majority of Celtic fans then it is deeply depressing.
  10. weren't their richer clubs than us when we signed VVD?
  11. If we let Targett go, it means Bertrand isn't departing. Happy days. Whether McQueen is good enough to be his alternative I'm not sure. Perhaps we will let both go and sign Tierney or some one else and achieve an upgrade. Not all young players coming through are actually top draw. Would hate to see Targett turn out to be a gem. The football people at the club hopefully know what they are doing.
  12. I seem to recall a similar comment after I suggested Pulis was ****e (before he'd kicked a ball). It is possible to make an assessment on a player based on seeing them for another team. I haven't seen Armstrong much, so I am not going to venture an opinion, but I was always under the impression than Tierney was THE guy we should be signing from Celtic. What has happened to us creaming off the talent from the second tier European leagues? Hope he proves to be a decent replacement for Davies, who has been a terrific signing for us.
  13. what the **** is EPL 1 and 2?
  14. Look forward to watching donny tonk them as usual at **** park
  15. Not easy to determine who has the financial muscle this summer. If you have spent less in the past maybe you have more freedom to spend in the future. For information, their wage bill was £112.5m in the 2016/17 season. By far and away the biggest Championship wage bill ever. Ours was £112.5m that season too, in the Premiership. They sold players having been relegated, but also spent a wedge on players to get them back in the top flight, especially in terms of wages. Ashley made a huge financial gamble and it paid off. He then spent a further £35m on transfer fees having secured promotion and i have little doubt the wage bill grew considerably. I was told one player doubled his £50k a week salary on promotion. They of course finished 10th and as a result brought in a extra £16m in TV prize money than us last season. Whether that matches the available VVD profit in terms spare cash I am not sure, but they may well be able to more than compete if we cant offload unwanted high earners.
  16. I really like the fact we are linked with the championships hottest prospects, but tapered by the fact I watched him in the FA cup game against Chelsea last season and he was a total non entity. Only one game though and overall he had a fantastic season in the championship by all accounts.
  17. Return to the bra kit?
  18. "house"
  19. when did Warsash Wasps change from green shirts, black shorts/socks?
  20. how cheap an tacky do those glued on sponsors, logos and badges look? Last five minutes in a hot wash I suspect. For a £50 item I'd expect these items to be sewn in. Football shirts a total rip off and every year more so.
  21. Interesting thought. 2014/15 Week 1 United lost at home to Swansea Spurs, Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all won Week 2 United and Arsenal drew (to Sunderland and Everton respectively) City beat Liverpool Spurs, and Chelsea both won 2010/11 Week 1 Spurs v City, Liverpool v Arsenal both draws United and Chelsea (6-0) won Week 2 Spurs, Arsenal (6-0) and Chelsea (6-0 again) won United drew with Fulham Man City beat Liverpool
  22. noticed that. Typical.
  23. Agree we need to upgrade, but 2/3 will need to be shipped out and perhaps there is no interest in any surplus to our requirements.
  24. harsh but fair post. Bednarek did OK, but he was hidden in a back three and HOedt has to improve a lot. He made far too many mistakes. The spine of the side WAS weak and needs addressing. Not sure there will be much movement though.
