he was crap against QPR. Forget the goal, I don't blame him for that, but his all round game at Loftus Road was poor.
-
you seem desperate to blame Jos for Carroll cheating.

I thought Holt's movement was good. He never stops working and moving in stark contrast to Ricky who stands pretty still. Holt is not gifted, but his touch is OK and he is heavily involved in the little give an goes with Hoolihan. He certainly puts a shift in and is a great focal point for their attacks. I prefer Ricky, but there are elemnts of Holt's game I wish Ricky had like his desire to get in the box and his movement.
-
Quite right too. They specifically choose to gamble by having an extra outfield player in their squad of 20 and this has come back to haunt them. If they had had two perm. keepers and one had been injured they would have a case.

he was pretty poor IMO. Holt gave him a tough time as you'd expect, but letting the ball bounce is not what I want my centre half to be doing. Holt bullied him up until about five minutes before he was subbed. In those last five minutes Yoshida stood his ground and won headers. He should have been doing that all game. Another problem for me is that he doesn't tackle. He jockey's the attacker (which is fine) but when you do that you need to eventually put pressure on the player and lead him somewhere he doesn't want to go. Yoshida just lets the guys waltz past him - as Snodgrass did easily in the first half - thankfully Shaw got him out of jail. He doesn't mark well at corners. Holt was his man and had a totally free header at the back post - and let me assure you that was just one of many occasions when his man left him for dead. Fortunately the ball didn't find his man otherwise we would have been left exposed. His passing last last night was atrocious. OK so on occasions he can play a ball having spot a run that the forward stops of changes, that happens, but there were a few occasions when he just hit it into an area (under no pressure) where there wasn't a player within 30 yards. Clearing lines fine, but when you have time I expect better. On a couple of occasions he played some suicide balls. What the hell was he doing chipping it straight to their attacker in the second half? get Jos back in the side. He made a few mistakes, as the whole side did, but he is a better defender than Yoshida IMO.

tough game as I knew it would be. A point was about fair. We dominated the first half possession wise, but offered little real cutting edge in the final third. The goal took our wind out of our sails and we struggled in the second going long a lot. We did create a few chances and could have won, but we lacked ideas in the final quarter of an hour. It was unusual that Adkins didn't tinker with the formation and personnel to changes things. Bringing on Rodriguez with just a few minutes to go was uninspiring. Ramirez did next to nothing in the second half yet stays on the pitch then moved out wide where he offers nothing. Don't understand Adkins thinking there. Was Mayuka not on the bench, we needed to add some pace and turn their defenders as they played with a high line congesting the middle and leaving us with no room to work in. Gazza 0 Absolutely woeful game. Not just the terrible organising of the wall and failing to stop the powderpuff shot, but everything in his game was bad. He just stood on his line like a rabbit stuck in headlights. Come out and claim something FFS. He looks like he has lost his confidence/bottle. At times the ball was almost next to him and he just stood there. His kicking at times was poor, although at least he has learned to go long rather than mess about. I want to keep a settled back four, but Davis must wonder how bad must Gazza be before he gets another chance? Gazza is young. He will improve, but right at this minute he is a problem for us. Clyne 6 Some good stuff defensively, his pace helps a lot, but also some poor stuff such as diving in quite a few times and committed a number of fouls in poor areas including the one for their goal. Ball watches at times too. Get some studs. Fonte 7 pretty solid game. A few poor clearances, but overall decent Yoshida 3 He is a very very average defender IMO. He had a tough job marking Holt, but he does so many things badly, letting the ball bounce, failing to mark at corners, distribution at times wasn't just poor it was suicidal. He hardly ever tackles, and perhaps jockeying is right, but if he is going ti jockey I don't want to see players waltz past him as though he wasn't there like Snodgrass did in the first half. Bring back Jos. Shaw 9 terrific game. Showed Snodgrass that he was quick and strong in the first few minutes and from then on had him in his pocket. Hope its not a bad injury. Cork 6 passing a little awry in the first half but dominated the middle winning loads in the air. Disappeared in the second half as we went long time after time. Morgan 6 again good in the first half getting us moving and neat and tidy, but hardly figured in the second. Disappointed to see him totally bottle one tackle Puncheon 8 thought he was our most dangerous player. He just didn't have the pace to go past the fullback so was always going to find it tough to beat him. He kept the ball well and created chances. Not sure why he was subbed. Lallana 6 pretty bright first half getting in between the lines and linking up well with JP and Ramirez. Don't recall him doing anything in the second really. We just went long and we don't have the right players for that game. Ramriez 5 again bright in the first half but did absolutely nothing in the second and should have been subbed IMO. He's a class act that is obvious, but he made the wrong choices too often today and we need him to be winning games for us if he is getting a free role. Lambert 8 won everything in the air but sadly the flick ons just did not fall to one of ours. He doesn't move but when we go long he at least keeps us in the game.

if anyone has a Liverpool ticket going PM me please. Don't need travel as will be driving up.

Unlike most on here, I didn't write off Fonte after a few mistakes and he has done well given time to find his feet. People were far too quick to write him off and I think the same mistake has been made with Jos. I trust Adkinss judgement, but people quickly forget what an outstanding season Jos had last year. He was instrumental in our promotion, far more so than Hammond or Sharp IMO and he hasn't suddenly become a bad player or `found out' at this level. he won't be the last to foul Tevez in the box and if you look closely he was desperately trying to make up for other peoples errors when sliding in against Manure. others were equally or more to blame for that goal. Blocking, what turned out to be a not goal bound shot, is hardly a reason to cast Jos into the wilderness IMO. Cut out the source for all this pressure and he would look solid as the other defenders are starting to. The less defending you do the less chance of making an error. For me the whole side were to blame for the `poor defending' three games ago and further back. Not keeping the ball further up the field ensured the back four were under tremendous pressure and that leads to goals. Lambert, Lallana and Ramirez were all hugely guilty of this in some earlier games. The fullbacks didn't prevent crosses and the wide midfielders didn't help the fullbacks. Some of the mistakes you point out could have been and have been made by any centre back. Fonte was robbed against Wigan and both him and Yoshida has been found wanting positionally on numerous occasions, some punished some not. How about Yoshida letting Defoe waltz down the line with no tackle or pressure before there goal? What about the slips and ball watching from Clyne? By the way Jos had a decent game at West Ham. He had Carroll in his pocket IMO, who in the end reverted to falling over and crying until the ref fell for it, so I don't agree with your assessment that game. Did any player come out of the Arsenal game with much credit? I'm not sure I see this great partnership between Yoshida and Fonte yet. They were all over the place in the first quarter of an hour against Newcastle until the supply ran out. Obviously I hope Yoshida continues to improve and Jos isn't needed, but if he is I'm not going to be admitting defeat before the match begins. He'll do fine.
-
Grant is less gifted than Ricky, but he's better in the air and without a doubt presents a tough challenge. I'd like to see Jos back in the side personally as Yoshida just doe snot cut it in the air for me. That said I don't really want us to change a settled side (and we won't). Norwich will be tough. They have some very good players. Pilkington, Hoolihan and Holt have all caused us problems in the past.
-
I would imagine the skates will argue that some of the high net worth members are also fans so their shares could be added to the PST's 50% `shareholding' making it a majority `fan owned' club.
-
I'm far from convinced by Yoshida. I thought we should have given Jos more time to find his feet.
-
Hoolihan makes them tick, or at least he did the last time we played them.
-
it's noticeable that every single player celebrates the goals. Proper team unity.
-
crap chant though isn't it?
-
Did you think either of the potential pens, pens? My angle wasn't great. The second seemed more like Ramirez stumbling, but the if the first wasn't a pen it must gave been a dive. The ref was unlucky with the foul by the skate bastard that he played advantage to, and he got quite a few decisions right, but when he got one wrong he evened it up straight away, which made him look poor. Linesman on my Kingsland side was terrible.

little things like Shaw replacing Fox, moving to a 4-4-1-1 formation, left and right midfielders working harder to protect the fullbacks, Cork returning, Ramirez getting match fit and having a settled back four have all added to up to make us a half decent side. We played a limited Newcastle off the park and craved them open time after time. They did offer a threat in Ba and Cisse and for the first ten minutes our back four looked all over the place with Fonte and Yoshida getting the run around and failing toi mark either striker. But that quickly changed and by the end Yoshida and Fonte were bullying their strikers. Very very happy. I hope we can keep this up. The pressing game is working well and we are finding that Premiership defenders get rattled if you don't give them time. Gazzinga 7 one tremendous world class save and kept his kicking simple Cylne 8 dived in a couple of times but got away with it. Great game apart from that Fonte 7 poor start but grew into the game. He's have a good season. I just wonder if we had given Jos a little more time he would have show that he also could make the step up. Yoshida 7 thought he was poor early on with some rubbish headers and poor marking. Got better as the game went on and by the end was dominating. I'm not convinced by him if I'm honest, but good enough today. Shaw 8 never flustered and never beaten. Very solid game and every time he plays he seems to look even more comfortable. Bit worried about him looking like he injured towards the end of games, but Adkins seems to managing that beautifully so far. Lallana 7 relatively quiet game for him, perhaps overshadowed by Puncheon and Ramirez, but he still had a good game and protected Shaw. Holding his position better which is helping the side. I think he must have ****ged the lino's wife. Cork 9 brilliant game. Won so much and kept it simple. Morgan 9 him and Cork dominated the middle and the rest of the game looked after itself. Nipped in so many times to win the ball and then kept it. Lots of unseen stuff. Back to his best. Puncheon 9 you just can't get the ball off him. Strong, direct and great work rate too. He is protecting Clyne and tracking runners. Great stuff. Lambert 7 looked like he was carrying an injury in the second half. Worked hard, but relatively quite for him. Unlucky with the free kick. Ramirez 8 Gave it away a fair bit early on, but second half he found space and hurt Newcastle a lot. He's some player, I just love watching him do his thing.
-
very tough one to call. The whole midfield played well. Cork has been absolutely sensational since he came back. I doubted he would make a big impact, but he has proved me wrong. Long may his form continue. That said, Puncheon had another stormer. He caused so many problems for Newcastle and he just never gave the ball away. Top class.
-
thought he was head and shoulders the best player back in 2008 when playing for Sheff United against us and could see why Spurs bought him. He's made steady progress since then and think he'd be a good signing.
-
I assume Pardew will get a decent response from us?

if PKF do a ten hour day then 90 seconds.

note that burgulars often tend to go back to where they have had sucess before. They know the way in and out and know it is easy to break into. I would advise increasing your security, maybe getting a bloody great big dog that will tear the fucas apart limb from limb.

it's the hope that kills ya

Colin Farmery said the other day that the PDT had budgeted for less than 12k attendances. I wonder how much less?

Nice PR. A great big advert for Xmas shirt sales.
