**** pre-season. Cork got injured so it had to be a terrible pre-season. We should have sacked Adkins, his heart clearly wasn't in it. He got it all wrong. Should have had the players running up hills for 6 weeks.

I'll be honest I didn't see the Arsenal game as I was on holiday, but we were a shambles at WBA with Yoshida leading the way in ineptitude. The own goals thing means nothing. The best centre backs in world football have scored them. Tough position these days what with marking old school bruisers like Carroll (I thought Jos did a decent job on him by the way) and nippy superstars like Tevez, so perhaps we are all far too hard on them, but the very basic I expect is a player that wins headers and does his best to dominate the striker one way of the other. Not sure when we have SToke, but if Yoshida plays ahead of Jos we could well have a problem

absolutely not for me. Our fullbacks need to be protected by right and left midfielders. right now we are playing 4-4-1-1 or possibly even 4-4-2 as Ramirez is pretty much playing up front. Since have made our wide player drop deeper we have been much harder to beat and that has to stay. It's all about what the two up front do for me. If Ramirez is not causing teams a problem then we need to consider changing the strikers in a game. Right now he seems to be unsubbable (and I am not starting another one of those bull**** Guly 15 minute rumours).

Gazzaniga 5 some shots were stopped, but spilled a few too that on anther day would have been tucked away Cylne 8 solid game. Never really beaten Fonte 6 some mistakes such as being mugged from a long ball from their keeper FFS. But pretty solid game. Yoshida 5 given a tough time again, but by a top top striker. Some woeful passing Shaw 5 looked a bit sluggish, although he does have a casual style I have noticed. Not given much cover by Lallana and they are very dangerous down that right side. Did pretty well to keep Stirling under relative wraps. Passing pretty awry at times though. Morgan 5 nowhere to be seen in the first half, a little more prominent in the second with some good defensive stuff and great pace. Need much more. Not been up to his highest standards in quite a lot of games this season. Cork 4 Game past him by. Ball got stuck under his feet. Chasing shadows. Rightly subbed. He's been brilliant since he came back but not today IMO. Puncheon 5 did absolutely nothing first half. Better in the second, but created very little overall. Some good defensive stuff, but after the great display on Wednesday I was hoping for a little more. He ran the game then, but not today. Lallana 5 see Puncheon Ramirez 4 given a free role he has to deliver but has failed badly in the last 1.5 games. Made a lot of poor choices, perhaps because he is starved of ball. Trying too hard. It will come good. Got to work harder to stop teams playing out from the back unless that was an Adkins tactic to sit back Lambert 7 won headers and lead the line as well as he could, but no support and too much to do. Also has to work harder across the line to stop teams passing from the back. His lack of pace and movement means we are not stretching defences. We need to work them down the flanks more.

I might just be pig headed , but I just refuse to write Jos off. Everyone told me that Fonte was not up to it either and they were wrong. Yoshida has been worse than Jos IMO as Gazzinga has been worse than Davis. Long term perhaps that won't be the case.

I just wonder if teams are seeing that we don't have any pace, playing with a high line and that is congesting the game making is hard for players like Lallana and Ramirez to get between the lines and cause teams trouble. If we had Mayuka playing up front with Lambert, rather than Ramirez then that might push teams back creating more space for Ramirez. Oh, that doesn't work as Ramirez has made way for Mayuka in the first place. Certainly is things are not going well we need to consider this alternative approach.

First half we were as bad as the WBA game. Much better in the second half. They tired as well as us. Gerrard does not have the legs and we started ti get a grip in the middle. Sterling looks like some player to me.

he's not as bad as I am making out possibly, but I've had every man and his dog tell me Jos is not up to it, yet none of these people seem to be criticising Yoshida for his mistakes and all round ****ness. For me Jos should not have been dropped. He may not be top clas, but neither is Yoshida. Jos is as quick as him, better in the air, organises better, offers better positional play and actually tackles and bullies players. Yoshida is more comfortable on the ball and doesn't dive in, but that's it. His passing has been attrocious in the last three games. Jos should have been given more time to find his feet and he might have got back to his best by now. Centre back is a crucial position. Lose Michael Svensson and we went down. Get Jos back in the side

improved second half, but not hard. How Ramriez stays on the pitch in the last two games is beyond me. Get Mayuka on to partner Lambert and see what happens for the last 20 minutes.
