  1. Yes, I know what you mean. Don't worry. Once we get past Jan 1st, everyone will shake off the enforced merriment and get down to being bloody miserable again. As it happens, I always start to cheer up about December 21-22. It's nothing to do with Xmas, but that the Sun is starting to come back after the Winter Solstice.
  2. Yeah, saw that. Being owned, wasn' it. That was a great contribution too.
  3. There are some people who are normally quite positive, and this time of the year usually finds them down in the dumps. But there is often a reason for it. Care to tell us, or is it just Seasonal Affective Dissorder, or as I like to put it, pining for the summer months..?
  4. Why would we have wanted to anyway, mate..?
  5. Of course, Churchill turned his hand around, i.e. palm outwards to the WWII troops he may have been visiting, displaying VICTORY to the men. Occasionally, he forgot, and did the original palm inwards hand gesture.
  6. Now there's a real contribution to this thread. :smt015
  7. That insult has so much more history and class about it than the one fingered sit an' swivel type.
  8. Yep, good video. Liked the bit about the toilets being full of excrement and no flushing water. We'll as they say, you can't sh!t in the station [meaning when the train is still]. And when there's no power, nothing works, not even a flushing loo. Or did they think there were mains water supplies running alongside, ready to be plugged in..? Everybody spoke French... well, well. That'll teach us to take up a second language in the future, eh..? Obviously, it must have been bloody awful. But I remember as a kid of 11, being stuck in the alpine mountain tunnel on the way to Turin for hour after hour, with no food or sanitary facilities. The passengers just got on with it. My family moaned between ourselves and other passengers, but we managed. It was neither a nightmare, nor a deathtrap. Just a pain in the arse.
  9. Because ALL the players were bad. Should Pardew have got rid of the lot..? No. Everyone got a chance, and very early on Pardew identified a need for a couple of strikers. And got them. But he had to wait for a short while. . A time that neither you or I can authoritively know the reason why, but can only guess at, and good people aren't out there waiting to be picked up. It needs identification and negotiation.
  10. You do remember the date when Pardew was eventually appointed..? And there were plenty of so-called crap players, at the time. And they are playing in the side now. It takes a little while to NOT make rash decisions.
  11. One point you make there is about the bad start, and I agree with that. AP has done absolute wonders getting a side together that, the core of which, had been a complete shambles the previous season. But this took time, and the winning mentality had to establish itself. That, and the 10 point penalty may yet mean that Saints don't make the play-offs. But with this team's belief, I think it'll be another hurdle that they'll overcome.
  12. Hmm, rather impressive. Is it too late for a job in Silicon Valley..? Ah well, I intend to retire to the Med in 20 odd years, if I can.
  13. Ooh dear, if you're going to pick holes, then be sure. Bristol Rovers lost, as did MK Dons. Agreed that Swindon have 2 games in hand.
  14. Just heard Hammond on Solent. He's disappointed not to have won or at least drawn. Chris Perry was also of the same attitude. I like that. That attitude will keep this team on track.
  15. That's a description, matey. I'm not colour blind, neither is my monitor that old.
  16. What's that bike on your avatar, Red & White..?
  17. Which just happens to be the same as the penalty we were saddled with. With our form, not counting today, we will still make the play-offs, IMO. Possibly with room to spare. It's a long season. But the good form must continue.
  18. Just listened to a rather hoarse Pardew on Solent. Watched the same game as I heard again, and IMO, called it right again. He's obviously disappointed though, as he thought we could have played a bit better, but watch out for sides to come.
  19. Don't know where I got the idea that Leeds had a near 40,000 attendance. Apparently it was 25,948. I did hear 26,000 during the match, but overlooked it. I also thought I heard capacity crowd being mentioned, though. Bit confused.
  20. Trying to work out why I don't feeel too bad at all, and am just looking at the teams above Saints, but outside of the playoff zone. Most of them have not taken advantage. Most have drawn, rather than winning, and Bristol Rovers and MK Dons lost. Brentford climbed above Saints by beating MKDs. Only Millwall and Swindon did well. I think Carlisle didn't play.
  21. Apologies, you're right. Forgot about Brentford getting above us.
  22. Exactly my feelings.
  23. Milton Keynes slipped up against Brentford.
  24. If Leyton Orient and Yeovil don't win it's still 14th.
  25. Off to Post Match Reaction peeps.
