Forum Alert: Corp Happy Clappy on patrol again! You are only allowed to be gushing, positive and full of praise it seems on here. Give CS a break Nick - he was only saying one good win does not make a season. Yes it was OK to good yesterday but let's take one match at a time. That result will soon be forgotten if we lose at Roots Hall.
-
An interesting addition to the bench nevertheless. He doesn't even have a squad number. Be interested in AP's rationale into including him into yesterday's sub's bench. He must rate him I guess. Anyone on here see him play? I don't think he has featured in our Reserves this season either.
-
That will be terrible news for Saints. I have sent the good doctor a "get well" card with 15,000 signatures from Saints fans.
-
think you are very wrong there Nick. MLT was lined up to be more than a figurehead but don't let cloud your judgement, although it might fit your agenda.
-
To me it is nothing more than a friendly - don't want to sound arrogant but I am embarressed to even be in this competition.
-
I don't think you have totally comprehended the principles/reasons to on line forums. They are basically a valve for disillusioned fans to let off steam. Obviously you do not need that outlet so perhaps you should take your "whingeing" elsewhere. No offence!
-
Fair point and I know what you mean but a "world beater" he aint. As soon as we all accept that Nick then perhaps he can find his true groove in the squad.
-
He did not "score again" - the Rovers goal has officially been given to Lambert and it was 2 men he beat on that run - other than that your post has been noted.

I am going to make myself unpopular now - I remain very unconvinced about Waigo. Unorthadox is not the word he really does not have a football brain and unforgiveably he bottled a couple of challenges today. I can understand why everyone wants him to do well because he is different, unpredictable and very watchable but I will be very surprised if he is still in our first team a year from now. Sorry.

Lambert was a revelation for me today - so much more to him as a player than I thought. His passing, workrate flicks and awareness were spot on. A big asset. However I am going to make myself unpopular now - I remain very unconvinced about Waigo. Well, Matt was taken by the bull****? Does that make him stupid?

Testing 2 - I give up

Testing too

No I don't think it was AO. I did meet Andy recently and sort of asked him but he admitted that his involvement in ML buying Saints to being miniscule. I liked what I read in the article but I have a nagging doubt re AP because of what Reading/West Ham and Charlton fans think of him.

Where do you expect Saints to finish this season?

Anyone know what the bookies are saying right now? -
Scratch their name from the FA Cup they won (sorry bought on the credit card) last year. Award the Cup to Cardiff.
-
" 10 games before we start slaughtering teams"? "it will work out alright in the end if we all just get behind the team and believe"? OMG you are now officially the leader of the happy clappies.
-
Oh and by the way - I have resisted on calling you a name. Perhaps it would be best if you withdrew the spaceman to Alpine remark. After all, does it move your argument forward?
-
But Will - I know you love the Saints but you got to accept while you can see they do no wrong others choose to differ. Blind faith support for Saints is great, but this is a forum and the vews on here will not make or break anything. Just because Alpine happens to voice views that makes you twitch in your underpants because they don't fit in to your perceived "must support Saints at any cost" views is not a reason for you to throw insults. We all want what is best for Saints but we all have different ways of expressing it. Some are cynical or negative (Alpine) some are happy clappy (you and NickG) but neither has the right to dictate to the other how they chose to "support" or "comment" on the team. To say as you did "if you can't handle your team losing go and support Chelsea etc" is a patronising, I'm a better supporter because I praise and not criticise vewpoint that is - if you don't mind me saying - out of place.
-
Sometimes I think people slag Alpine simply because they don't like his message. Yes he is negative but that does not make him right or wrong, just as you chose to be positive which neither makes you right or wrong. Negative people get irked by happy clappy posts and vice versa, The very least we can do is just debate our corner without trying to A) convert (never gonna happen), B) preach (boring) or C) insult (everyone is entitled to have their say without being vilified). Alpine has irritated me in the past but the guy is consistent, has been on here for years, makes the effort to attend matches even though he lives abroad and obviously cares. Argue with him by all means but cut out the insults would be my advice. He is prepared to defend his corner with reason.

I am in complete agreement. The players should now do their talking on the pitch and leave the battlecries for another day. They are becoming counter-productive. The OS should give these meaningless interviews a miss and the Echo go and do some research and write something original or even factual for a change.

Saints Forum on Solent - Tonight
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Appreciate your sentiments Gemmel, but when we bought Lambert from Rovers 9 games ago I wasn't expecting to still be on minus points come October and seeing them 20 odd places above us. Form is poor (even the one win v Yeovil was instantly forgettable apart from 2 dubious pens) and just off the top of my head there is no cohesion, pace, width or mental toughness. Some evidence of progress in these 4 areas would go some way to allieviate the growing frustration. Too early to consider AP's removal but if I was NC I would be keeping my eye on the movements of Steve Coppell now his self-imposed 6 month sabbatical is nearing its end. He was originally his first choice and Cortese could be forgiven for pangs of "what might have been". We can not live on the Rupert is gone/we have no debt feelgood factor for too much longer. -
They were just a little quick to announce his arrival and now they have yet more egg on their faces. Like I said at the beginning before this thread got moved - Oh happy day!
-
An excellent and balanced post - thanks. Reading that link does worry me a tad about Pardew however. I hope he has learnt from past mistakes. I think he has some very good points but I also think he had (emphasis on had) some bad ones too!

Although I am at present a little underwhelmed at our performances this season I do think AP pushes all the right buttons as far as his communication goes. His piece in the Echo this week after the poor Reserves' performance was interesting and pulled no punches. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1807314,00.html So he talks the talk but the question is can he walk the walk? The next 2 home matches will go some way to answering the above.
