I agree with all of your points: this performance was way below quality, Harding got away against poorer teams, players actually tried but couldn't make it right. One thing though: as for who scored the goals I don't care where they played before. If we were to buy any of them, they'd kiss badges on shirts here as at any other club... they're just football players...

That's a really bad solution just trying to ignore the problems... which is why I feel particularly bad about putting a whopping 3 users on ignore tonight C'mon people, it's football and we're not prophets. Let's take it one game at a time...

As I wrote, Harding has been a very good stand-in RB against Coventry and Nottm Forest, so I can see why Adkins chose him over a Richardson that wasn't entirely match fit. But I agree that Harding failed badly today and that it might have been a major factor behind our general anxiousness. So, to me not a bad decision by NA, as he could have hoped that Harding would have delivered for the third game running...

Considering our injury/suspension situation I thought the lineup looked good: Harding has been an acceptable stand-in at RB, Martin has fought well and Jos shown that he can boss the defense when Fonte is out. Falque for Lallana was a big question mark. Overall, not optimal and not our best XI by far - but no reason to panic. At least that's what I would have assumed - but the players looked extremely nervous in the opening 15 minutes. Nugent and Beckford were too big a handful for the defense and the jitteriness struck the entire team. It would be a shame to say that the goal came out of the blue. Add to that the lack of Lallana and Lambert and it was obvious that we had no automatisms, no set structure to the offense - it seemed like 90 minutes of improvisation. The five positives from today will be the names of the five players to come back into the team Negatives were that we weren't able to shake off that bad start. In short periods we managed to get a hold of the game, but we always slipped back to second best again. I was absolutely sure this team would be able to dig themselves back into the game - much as we did in the away fixture against Leicester. Other negatives was the amount of posts in the game thread not spend on the game but on mindless arguments on the meaning of this game in a larger context. Enjoy/despair/cheer/yell whatever for 90 minutes and let's keep the tedious arguments to this post-game thread. Or alternatively at the itoldyouso.co.uk website... F*ck sh*t b*gger and then let's look forwards. How long will Jos & Jose be out? Lallana? Given a bit of luck we'll be in our best starting XI next game...

Luckily the players are mentally stronger than most of the fans. They've been second best all day but at least they are still trying. Would hate to see them fold as early and badly as us fans...
