Getting past the stage where we should be caring about the money coming in to actually getting some players. It’s looking thin on that front. Bare bones. As Harry would say. If Tella and alcaraz and Che go it is getting kind of drastic
-
Is Alcaraz’ muscle injury ‘getmeoutofhereitis’?
-
Walcott - nailed on as a pundit I reckon
-
Have a feeling this will be a heavy loss. 3-0. Way too exposed at the back. And they don't seem to know what they're doing. If Downes in and fit by tomorrow, all changes, but at the moment I feel we are very exposable when we lose the ball.

Anyway, I thought Salmonella had downed tools and wanted out. *gets coat

Wataru? More like Whoareu?
-
Or they watched him in, like, any match. We need to dump him wherever will have him
-
probably because we were watching it. there is that. really hope they win the final and we can progress from all the 1966 balls

I watched that game last night too. Wolves were really good. Very quick and outmuscled Man U everywhere too. Played them off the park. And that penalty was absolutely abysmal - if ever there was evidence of corruption in football, or at the very least favouritism to Man U that has gone on for ever at Old Trafford, that was it. Utterly appalling neglect from the muppets who look at screens and call themselves VAR. Wolves should be awarded a point, and Man U deducted 2 (no, I know, not serious, and would never happen, but I'd be spitting blood if I that had happened to us). Adds more fuel to the debate that, actually, the Championship may be better than the money playground that the Premier has become. Long live decisions made at the time! And the correct ones. Or at least don't employ corrupt officials.

Luton looking at McCarthy too, but put off by his 50k a week wages. So that’s Everton, Palace and now Luton. Surely we can get rid? I’d make this a big priority, with an experienced keeper coming in. Not that 16 year old. Schmeichel please. Let’s cure Saints’ long-running keeper blindness!

Whereas Fareham Saint knows THE TRUTH

I just think it’s much better to have the player than the money, sorry. And I rate Smallbone very highly. Excellent ball retention and seems to like the club. In an age of mercenaries it’s good to have as much affinity to the club as possible in the team. We need to get a settled team as quickly as possible and avoid too much change. And smallbone is a keep for me. We have enough cash from elsewhere.
-
Actually feel it would be madness to let Smallbone go for that. The one shining light so far this season. Holds the ball superbly well. Have been missing that since Romeu. Get a good’un alongside him and midfield will be very much stronger.

Insurance bets are cracking again this season
-
As I said. We will concede a lot of goals this season. Which is why I felt we would be mid-table at best. Football is quite simple. Be difficult to beat, and build from that. Get some pace, and experience. Everything else in the name of ‘innovation’ is a pod of old balls.
-
Very much hope we keep Smallbone too as he will be crucial in ball retention, methinks. And for cover. But Grimes and Downes is not bad business. Hope we can add Piroe, and kick McCarthy into the English Channel

*Looks up odds of Klopp to walk. Or perhaps even the Spurs boss

Brighton surely have the best poker-playing owner in the history of deal-making. Brighton sales in the past year: 🇨🇴 Caicedo £110m 🇪🇸 Cucurella £62m 🇦🇷 McAllister £55m 🇲🇱 Bissouma £35m 🇧🇪 Trossard £27m 🇪🇸 Sanchez £25m 🏴 Burn £13m 🇫🇷 Maupay £12m
-
Oh dear - apparently we're up against Palace for Downes, along with Middlesborough and Leeds. Hope his relationship with Russell is a strong one. Can we give them McCarthy and some money for them to withdraw?
-
Perhaps Spurs will come in for Lavia now that Kane is off to Bayern (will be funny watching them collapse).
-
Probably depends on the money involved. If they were insisting on a permanent transfer, it may have been that they wanted £10m on it, or something like that, thus meaning JWP (definitely not going) (blood pressure is fine) would have costed £20m. I hope Downes does come in - think Saints need to do this today. That and Lavia being sold to Chelsea - who were rumoured to have bid 50 mill before Lavia even kicked a ball for us, and after City rejected them - would be better, along with Grimes and Piroe, plus Edwards over the line. That and a ritual locking out of McCarthy from the Southampton area would go some way to correcting what has been a total shitstorm of the last 48 hours for all things Saints. Very worried about how little experience there is in the squad, about the frailty of our defence, and our seeming inability to look beyond Man City's development team for risky, young, resell value players beyond those with clear ability. Said it before to general ridicule, but think we will end up mid-table. If anything that is looking on the optimistic side right now.
-
This is much worse news than us losing JWP. Now we are really in the shite.
-
Agreed. Very frustrating lack of awareness. Thought he was out weak link. Better options in the squad
