  1. Quite a iot of people on here thought he was a great appointment at the time, muttering things about his excellent track record in Ligue 1. Which was a load of balls too. I suspect Tonda is a better manager tactically, but in this current period however he is is being shielded by how good Leo S is. If we lose him to another club or injury we will see how good - or not - Eckert is. But can't say I haven't enjoyed the points haul recently.
  2. Both teams to score is the bet. Always is with 'old crisp packet hands' in our goal.

I can exclusively reveal my own data on both Baz and Macca. They're shit.

    Gavin Bazunu

He's a massive flaw in our team and having such a weak keeper sends ripples of uncertainty into the defence. Which is why we always concede. Always. We need to get rid, and McCarthy, and get keepers in who can command their box and actually instil some confidence. Would be negligent (again) to ignore this (again) and try to pretend that he is any good or that somehow an amalgam of our two keepers equals one that is at best bang average. But then Saints have been blind to this for at least five years so not holding my breath. I'll keep winning on both teams to score though... 😉
  5. Interesting to see how everyone says both teams to score. Almost a certainty with our flaky keepers, but good for betting, frankly. I think it will be 1-1 tonight
  6. No. me neither, but I personally wouldn't be outraged if it materialised. And he could do his free kick milestone with us... Not hugely keen on Downes so wouldn't cry too much if he left. We might need another 'enforcer' in the middle, although Oriel will help with minutes there hopefully.
  7. Whatever we do, a goalkeeper is a must. JWP back might work too. And we need a striker. Offload Aribo who has looked truly awful recently/legs have gone and Downs, who just does not look like he is the solution to anything. Baffling signing. The thing we should be worried about is losing Scienza already. He is the reason we have been winning, and to a certain extent has got Eckert his contract. Not totally sold on his managerial ability yet as it has been hidden by goals...
  8. Can still see them scoring. Always can with Bazball in goal.
  9. Manager done. Sort of. Goalkeeper next please.
  10. I do hope the Frank in this rumour is not of the de Boer variety. If it is Thomas Frank - that he is sick of the fans already (who would blame him) - and Ankersen has some magical pull, then that would be a massive miracle. Ditto with Lampard. Does feel kind of not true TBH
  11. I said I'd like him, in the best of all possible worlds, and still do. Brilliant communicator, and anyway, we all know that money can talk to lure people away even from Euro teams, especially if they can come 'home'. But of course that is nuance. I didn't 'suggest' him, and neither do I 'want' Farke - merely speculating, as is completely allowed on here as you well know. Or I could say we will get a new manager, or won't get a new manager, if that's more your bag (which clearly it is). Whatever happened to Fareham Saint? Any ideas? He did those kinds of posts too
  12. Did I really read Keegan being suggested as a realistic choice up there for manager? Or did the heavy sarcasm pass over my head? Farke has two games left at Leeds apparently. I wonder if we give Tonda the next two...
  13. I think that just about covers it. You should be a detective.
  14. It was a fucking howler to add to his massive collection. He's cost us so many points over the past few seasons it's incredible. But we are still blind to the keeper position.
  15. Knowing us we've sold 'ill' Scienza already. Shite.
  16. So sick of us having shit keepers. Bazunu is an absolute clown. How does he let that in? Absolute shit. As to the rest of the game it is now clear that we have less of a good manager in Eckert than a brilliant player in Leo Scienza. Big miss today. But fuck me can we please get a goalkeeper, finally, in January? And get rid of our two mistakes waiting to happen shitmeisters.
  17. I'm not 100% sure it's the right decision but I have to say it would be very harsh not to give the job to Tonda Eckert if we win again tomorrow. This is pending Leeds sacking Farke tomorrow night, however (not that I'm a massive fan but they might possibly be waiting for this, who knows?) Anyway, excited about Oriel perhaps playing tomorrow. Perhaps he is being groomed for the role one day...
  18. One thing in TE's favour is that the style of play seemed more positive and direct on Saturday, using the wings and the excellent Scienza. Also loved how uninvolved Downes was (am convinced he's a bad egg) but watching Downs not run around much was again worrying. Really think we should try and offload already in Jan, at least on loan somewhere. Pathetic energy. If they play in that manner tomorrow night that is another plus, regardless of the result. It shows that we have someone who knows about tactics (or at least in comparison to the computer game player we had before). One thought struck me though: that the players are finally playing for him because they really don't want a disciplinarian or old school tactician coming in.
  19. Waiting for Leeds to make the chop...
  20. One other thing. If I was Downs and in a miserable run of form, I would at least run around a bit. Bloody hell he doesn't look he's even trying! On a day of brilliance, he looked drab. Still need the scouts out for a CF and GK in January.
  21. Just got back. Have to say that at times we were brilliant, and totally bossed the first half. I sat with my Charlton supporting mate in the side stand and he said we were the best team by far he has seen in the 8 games so far this season he's been to. I thought Scienza was amazingly good with his pace and directness, and Fellows also excellent. But boy oh boy were Charlton open, and Nathan Jones didn't seem equipped to change it. Deja vu. Even Armstrong was pretty good, one glaring piss poor header aside, and at least finished after his bites at the cherry. Wood looked a bit lumbering at times, choosing to manhandle his man too much, and Stephens had one Stephens moment, plus of course we conceded (poor marking or should Baz have come?) but overall an incredible performance, great result, and much rendition of the sheepshagging song about Nathan Jones. One thing I thought was interesting - okay, some of their fans went home early but even at halftime whilst queuing for teas, I couldn't sense any of the anger, vitriol, and toxicity that might have been there had we been 5-1 down. Or at the final whistle. My mate suggested that there was still a lot of goodwill around for their promotion, and that was also evident by the way their fans applauded their team at the final whistle. Despite being demolished in the first half. There will be a lot of people now calling for Eckert to get the job full time but it's too early I think, and perehaps Charlton were just the third bad team in a row we have played. But he hasn't done himself any harm. Ownership must be rubbing their hands with glee.
  22. I really, really hate everything I have heard about Rasmus Ankersen. What an absolute tool. Mate, you are not reinventing football. You got lucky once and then everything else you have ever touched has been shit. Give up and leave Saints please.
  23. Comes to something when you wish we had their manager (again) rather than ours. At least he has passion and motivational skills. Might Oriel be involved in this one, even for 15 minutes? Hope so. Hi leadership will be useful in papering over a few cracks. Hope he squashes Flynn Downes too, the little rat
  24. Or maybe Farke. Dearie me.
  25. In other words, we have no intention of paying any money for people who know more about football than they do, and are hoping that we can justify taking the cheap option by fluking some results - or even one win out of those three, in addition to some fluff about how we've turned the corner or are rewarding the pathway. Bloody jokers.
