  1. Interesting take on things, but I'm neither expecting much investment nor a mass exodus. On the investment, I'd love to be orived wrong, but we haven't seen much enthusiasm for spending yet. And, after a miserable season, we're not going to be top of the big clubs' shopping lists for once. Who's going to want Forster? Not first team, confidence shot. Bertrand is assumed to be off, but no England place. Not in the WC spotlight, although Cedric could be. Losing him wouldn't be a total disaster. Boufal's attitude has been shown up and will frighten off plenty of suitors. And, apart from one wonder goal, he's done little. Maybe someone will come in for Lemina, but he's got plenty left on his contract and would be expensive. I think he'll be off next year after a great season. Gabbiadini probably will go, unless he's convinced that MH can revitalize his Saints career. Would be sorry to lose him. Pretty well everyone else is either in the category of decent squad player who can hopefully improve (Hoedt, Bednarek, Stephens, McQueen, Romeu, Hojbjerg, etc) or fading or not good enough. The one player who might be targeted and I really hope we can keep is McCarthy. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  2. Actually, I think Carrillo got the last laugh. Getting Saints to believe he's a footballer. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  3. Yeah. Right. Relegation always cheers the soul. *Grammatical note to help your language development: the expression "Yeah, right" doesn't actually mean yeah or right, but is a midly sarcastic rebuttal of something patently false. HTH Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  4. That's my underlying thought. He got way more out of the players in the last eight games than MP had all season. So I might just go with this belief, take a long holiday and look forward to mid-August. [emoji3][emoji3] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  5. Think we can close this one. The answer to the OP is no. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  6. And why exactly does that matter at all? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  7. This. I'm optimistic that he'll bring the right blend of control of the team and motivation, and actually get them fit. He's got a good connection with both fans and the players. We finished the season on a positive - surviving and some decent results. Next season will be good. You heard it here first. [emoji6] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

  10. Amusing that even "Sky sources" haven't caught up with it yet. Back to the Saints Way of secrecy and surprise announcements. Looking forward to some exciting and unexpected transfer news now.[emoji38] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  11. I would guess he's been outvoted and this could be the beginning of the end. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

  20. Villa fans warned not bring flares to Wembley for play off final. In a statement, Met Police state that alrhough they wore them at Wembley last time they visited, It's now not acceptable . [emoji6] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

  22. Whilst I agree that the signs are that Gao has no football ambition beyond keeping the repayments on his loan rolling in, I disagree with the concept, encouraged by the media (especially Sky), that you have to spend big to be successful. In recent years we've spent relatively big on Osvaldo, Ramirez, Boufal, Carrillo. How much success have they brought? The Southampton Way of finding cheaper up-and-coming players with potential before the big clubs find them, getting a few good seasons and then selling at a profit used to work. The reasons it hasn't worked recently are greedy players and greedier agents coupled with too much money in the system. We used to be able to sign players such as Mané under the radar. Now, the moment we show interest, players don't seem interested in just getting a foot on the ladder: agents tout our interest around other clubs and they want the big bucks straight away. And because there's too much money around, stupid fees are becoming commonplace. The equation of how much of the VVD money us left is interesting. Of £75m, £19m + wages wasted on Carillo, probably £5-10m on agents, plus Celtic's cut. We've paid off two managers in the last year and found a bonus for MH for keeping us up. And it's reasonable to assume we budgeted for a mid-table finish and up to £20m more in prize money than we got. I can believe there's not much left. I'm still not convinced there's any truth in this story, which is unsubstantiated, but something's holding things up. Hopefully a compromise can be found. We don't need a huge clear-out. Properly managed, and with two or three additions, this squad is easily good enough to be mid-table. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

  24. If this is true, and it seems tenuous at the moment, it's confirmation that Mr Gao wants to pay off his loan asap. And then pocket the profits. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  25. No thank you. Zero experience as manager. Would be a total gamble. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
