  1. Yeehah:smt117 LMFAO The deadline passed But Oh!!!!
  2. Sadly, Saint in Winchester has just retreated into that Groundhog Day excuse that Pearson was too expensive. Unbelieavble:D
  3. Research???? It's called going to matches and knowing your stuff. off the top of my head other players around that time at Sheff Weds were: Anderson, Nillson, Woods, Worthington, Palmer, Warhurts (i think), Bright & Hirst, Sheridan (maybe), Waddle, that yank bloke As for that boro team: Juninho, Ravanelli, Emerson (remember 4-0 down here and Ravanelli?? mising a penalty) Pallister, Barmby, Festa, Phil Stamp, Hignett
  4. Posted this yesterday as not sure about this £10m. Think you need to get behind the words and really understand what he was saying. Have a listen to this one and it's not exactly as you are saying: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ty/8004742.stm And I think the £10m relates to prior monies invested (i.e. inc the pruchase and funding last season etc etc etc) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...nightmare.html They have not spent big on transfer fees this season and the BBC interview refers to this quite clearly.
  5. I don't want to call you insular, but I'm amazed you didn't know who Nigel Pearson was???? He was the skipper during Boro's mad days when they signed Ravanelli, Juninho, Emerson etc etc etc under Robson. He played in a few finals for them and was the backbone of their up/down side around that period. He was also Captain for Sheff Weds during their mini revival in the early 90's when they were at Wembley and had a tidy side under Atkinson/Francis
  6. So now we're back to Nigel Pearson's high wage demands pricing him out:rolleyes: Haven't heard that little ditty for a while and thought we put that one to bed. Groundhog day all round then LOL:smt117
  7. But fairly recently they won three on the bounce, wth one of them spanking Ipswich away 3-0 and another putting 3 past Preston. IMHO our squad is better than our league position would suggest.
  8. Hoddle experienced the lower leagues with Swindon, would he be interested???
  9. I also think one of the reasons why Pearson's stock is still relatively good with us supporters is the way he conducted himself despite effectively getting the boot from us. No bad words, no malice, just very professional and dignified. Like you, I'm just left shouting - WHY, WHY, WHY????
  10. Thank you very much. That is mentalist, particularly the customising bit
  11. It all depends on the agreement etc, but here is a possibility that it could actually be an attractive deal to the Club. If the rental was say variable based on attendances etc, with an option to purchase if things are going well, then it might not be a bad shout. If the rental increased with our ability to pay, then it might take some of the fixed cost and potential risk out of the equation. I accept that if someone has not got the cash to buy the Club and the ground it may not say much for their ability to fund us, but in the absence of a mega backer, it could actually make sense to pass that debt and worry on to someone else. It would all depend on how the deal was structured, but I wouldn't rule it out on principle.
  12. Not that know of. I just remembered it.
  13. This time last year with two games to go: 50 points & 21st - Finished 54 points & 20th Currently 44 points & 23rd - Finished ??????
  14. Think you need to get behind the words and really understand what he was saying. Have a listen to this one and it's not exactly as you are saying: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/8004742.stm And I think the £10m relates to prior monies invested (i.e. inc the pruchase and funding last season etc etc etc) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2299310/Milan-Mandaric-fears-a-10m-nightmare.html They have not spent big on transfer fees this season and the BBC interview refers to this quite clearly.
  15. So we might get to play there then!!!!

    Wotte OUT

If you agree Pearson was in charge for 13 games (pretty unfair to throw in Plymouth away) then the records so far are: Pearson = 1.23 points per game Poortvliet = 0.93 points per game Wotte = 1.13 points per game Extrapolating for 46 games that would be: Pearson = 1.23 points per game (57 points mid table) Poortvliet = 0.93 points per game (43 points definitely relegated) Wotte = 52 points (mid table to bottomish but not relegated)
  17. Being honest, I'm not really wedded to any of them so hard to choose anyone. Arguaby the most talented are: Surman (but failed to deliver this season) Saeijs (but won't be interested in Div 3) Saga (even less interested in Div 3) Lallana (just doesn't contrbute enough to build a team around) Skacel (even less intersted in Div 3 than others who aren't interested) Not massive fans of DMG, Gillet & others but IMHO most of them are two a penny who could do a job (but so could many others up and down the leagues). So perhaps I would come back to either Kelvin or Perry as being old heads who could help out (and dare I say it maybe even Wotton - not sure I really said that).
  18. Would we get to play at their new ground???
  19. I think that's one thing that we will have to face up to, namely that this is the third tier of football and the quality and standard of players is nowhere as high as we're used to. I really don't rate Gillet & DMG, but I bet they can do a good job for us IF we go down. Going back to the OP I wouldn't have a problem with Bart and just haven't seen Forecast, so hard to judge, but he can't be far off. But I would also settle for Kelvin accepting a wage cut and staying.
  20. What makes you say that fella??? I would have thought if we make it to the opening of the transfer window on July 1st then I would have thought Mr Fry would be well up for a firesale. Although you could argue it would decimate the team and perhaps impinge on it selling it as a Going Concern, I think it will be a needs must exercise, with the argument being there are others left at the Club to from a team and of course the new owners could always bring in players.
  21. I would think very, very low, but that's not to say they might not play with the same gusto. The other side of the coin might be playing with freedom, no fear and a some serious confidence of being Champions might mean they play some lovely flowing football with copious amount of goals!!!!
  22. So not over then as that has at least given us a chance. Fingers crossed that barnsley lose midweek (or at least draw). It will go to the wire
  23. And the "Youth Policy" did not require us to bump Pearson and bring in that top rated manager, Poortfckingvliet!!!!
  24. But your inference was that if we had sold Skacel then we might have kept John, whereas I would suggest Poortvliet didn't think John fitted in with his style of play, so had we managed to offload Skacel he would still have offloaded John anyway.
  25. Poortvliet didn't think John could play in the style he wanted to play. "Bristol City play 4-4-2, so the way they play will better suit Stern's style".
