  1. Pearcesport James Pearce Potential jury members will be asked series of questions, including their football allegiances. No chance of any Pompey/Spurs fans selected 1 minute ago Wonder if any Saints fans will be on the jury
  2. The BBC has just referred to his 'heart surgery'. I think, from memory, he had a stent or a balloon fitted. Most people who have this procedure are able to return to work more or less straight away. It was hardly open heart stuff, was it (although I'm sure it wasn't very nice). But never mind, let's wring out our hankies, eh?
  3. Pearcesport James Pearce Milan Mandaric has also arrived. My early start was worth it as I now have my ticket for duration of the trial. It's due to start at 1030 Pearcesport James Pearce Jamie Redknapp has also arrived at Court to support his father
  4. Pearcesport James Pearce Trial is due to last 2 weeks. Lots of questions but please don't expect me to answer. I can only report basic facts + what's said in Court
  5. Pearcesport James Pearce Redknapp/Mandaric trial being moved from Court 8 to Court 6, which is slightly bigger. Still not early enough room for those hoping to watch
  6. With respect, that's a slightly different take I do have an old 'ladies' Saints shirt but I don't wear it out (it wouldn't mean much to people up here anyway) and I rarely go to matches. But the shirt was bought to show support for my team, not to give me an identity. That's the difference.
  7. Yep but they're an efficient way of dragging along people who feel the need to wear a uniform in order to have an identity. A fool and his money ........
  8. You forgot the winky thingy but I've done it for you
  9. So true. In the 'old' days (pre this government), if an NHS hospital wanted a state of the art piece of kit, the hospital (or the department within the hospital) had to submit a business case to get additional capital funding beyond its normal annual capital funding. All the costs had to be demonstrated. I remember well when a well-meaning local charity raised money for a new MRI scanner. Admirable work. But they failed to consider that such a scanner needs a specialist building (RF proofed), and of course the staff, training and consumables that would be required on an on-going basis and that the local hospital couldn't afford. If purchasing power is trickled down to a very local level, the local consortia will feel they have to have the same stuff as the group along the road in order to compete - regardless of whether or not they need it. It happened before when the purchaser / provider split was first introduced in the early 1990s and I see no reason why it won't happen again.
  10. Didn't someone suggest that if there's a WUP, then the club can't be sold (it has to be ringfenced as an asset) nor can the club's assets (its players)? Someone should point that out to the deluded phew.
  11. Wll, the coalition's drive for fragmentation and localism in all public services will ensure that things get even more difficult. Surgeons, doctors, nurses, midwives, GPS - all against these 'reforms'. But what do they know, eh? Procurement in the NHS used to be a centralised function with significant elements of local control and input. Economies of scale meant that very good savings could be made. But no - the coalition wants it all to be 'local'. So your local purchasing body (maybe a group of GPs) decides it wants a bit of kit. No real leverage any more with regard to price and after-sales service. And, if it's something like a scanner (that the consortium down the road already has so your local consortium has to have one too so it can 'compete') that'll require a special building, specialist staff, a special maintenance budget etc. It will all go horribly wrong.
  12. I love his commentary too. Wonderful use of our wonderful language. He's pretty old now, isn't he?

  14. Moulin Rouge was an awesome film! The tango scene in the bar (to Roxanne) was probably the most amazing piece of dancework I've ever seen in a film.

  16. Isn't it a requirement that there is at least 6 months to go on the passport before expiry? Having said that, my daughter managed to get to France with a passport that had expired 6 months beforehand! That was on Eurostar (not so sure airports would be quite so accommodating) and she took a couple of utility bills and her driving licence to prove her identity.
  17. Start your tiling in the middle - that's what my dad taught me.
