Are their assets set against their liabilities? Not that I think their assets amount to a row of beans

We all know that - the bit I highlighted is the salient part.

Wasn't JP Magnier rumoured to have looked at us last year? If he turned us down, why on earth would he be interested in that lot down the road?
-
All the major accountancy firms (Grant Thornton, PWC) have sports experts. Could HMRC contract them to look at the valuations - to get a balanced view?
-
Me too, but I'm confident that a judge specialising in bankruptcy will see through any make-believe. After all, they must hear from Walter Mittys all the time.

Look at this! Advertisement of the Petition 15 days (or sometimes more) before the hearing, the petition can be"advertised" in the London Gazette. Of course all high street banks and lenders monitor this very carefully because if a customer is involved in such an action they usually MUST freeze the bank account immediately - thus stopping any trading. The purpose of this is stop assets being sold or other transactions that may worsen the creditor’s position. This is to stop dissipation of assets under s127 Insolvency Act 1986.

I worked there for 3 years (at the end of the last century) and still have a couple of friends there (not football fans I hasten to add!). As StL said, parts of the city are OK - the old city for example. I nearly went to college there a few decades ago - before the arch Saints/PFC rivalry. I don't HATE the club (how can I hate an inanimate object). I don't like the way they've cheated but I do feel sorry for some of their fans (Mr TF being one of them).

Have a look at this site, too, PFC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Oxford_United_F.C.'s_average_attendances.jpg It shows the attendances for Oxford United. Note the peak in 1986 when the club was in the old first division. Look at the attendances now. And it is one of the best supported clubs in the BSP. It's fair to say that in 1986 the club played at the Manor Ground - a lot smaller than the Kassam Stadium - so the attendances in 1986 weren't that impressive. In fact the old Manor Ground reminds me of FP somewhat
-
Here you go, have a look at this site: http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/FC/attend.html There's a drop-down menu at the top of the page so you can compare attendances for the different leagues.

But, in the 70s and 80s, there weren't the JCLs around as there are today. Your glory hunter fans will soon find another club to support, you'll see

I think the crucial thing is this. At last week's hearing, both HMRC and the Registrar said, to paraphrase, that they BELIEVED the company to be trading whilst insolvent. But a judgement can't be given on a belief. It has to be based on FACT. This is why the club (through Vantis) have been given a week to produce the SoA - to prove, one way or another, whether this belief, is in fact, fact. Had she adjudged them to be insolvent based on belief, she would have been laying herself open to challenge. This way, she ensures that they swing based on a legal absolute. Let's face it, we'd hate it if she'd made her judgement last week only for them to drag it all out via an appeal.

I particularly like this bit: Directors potential personal liability for company debts If company directors are found guilty of continuing to allow a business to trade while they KNEW it was insolvent, they may become personally liable for the debts incurred by the company from the time they knew the business was insolvent. so that was, what, 2 years ago?
-
Apparently it IS possible - if it's done quickly: http://www.companyrescue.co.uk/company-rescue/guides/What-is-a-winding-up-petition.aspx However, they've had plenty of time so I guess they cant :smt102

When I was reading Storrie's Wiki entry, I was reminded about the big Australian investment he was hoping to bring in - in December

Currently I''m on 277,250. But I do play it an awful lot
-
Ooooo yes - proper 'ooked on that, I am Highest score to date = over 370,000!
-
I took my daughter to that match! You could stand next to the sidelines then and she decided she liked football because of the players' legs and bums
-
I like the bit at the bottom of the Wiki entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Storrie Seriously - I see he has past connections with Notts County, Southend United and West Ham. All 3 clubs are currently experiencing financial problems. Coincidence?
-
Yes there is, surely. If it is demonstrated to them (on Wednesday if not before) that they are insolvent then they are legally bound to declare this and stop trading immediately. Otherwise the directors will be directly liable to the creditors.
