  1. Yes, yes I do. That's why I'm cracking up right now at how you've contradicted yourself in just two posts "Britain has enough losers" swiftly followed by "I am proud of being British and proud of our sporting achievements. How on earth you can judge me as being 'sanctimonious' for simply pointing out some relevant facts, heaven only knows. If there's any getting over to be done, it has to be you buddy. FFS
  2. Funny you should say that, as the Observer today has a good article on just how GOOD Brtitish sports men and women are at the moment: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/jan/31/andy-murray-roger-federer-australia It does so disappoint me that some people don't recognise talent when they see it. Murray is easily the best British tennis player of the modern era and, if you bother to read his Wiki entry, you'll see just how successful he's been so far. No-one would have touched Federer today.
  3. The sheer hypocrisy of so many people and the tabloid press in this country takes my breath away sometimes.
  4. It's very interesting to read his entry in Wiki. I knew he came from Dunblane bit but I didn't realise he was there during the massacre. I think he must be highly intelligent to have organised his career (with his mother's help) so well. And it must have taken some guts (part of the focus I guess) to move away from his family at the age of 15 to pursue his dream. But for me the crucial measure is the entertainment he provides with his skill. As far as I'm concerned, I don't expect him to entertain me with his wit. Having said that, it's reported that he's actually a very funny guy away from the intensity of the tennis circuit.
  5. I do believe there should be a comma between 'subject' and 'the use'.
  6. Oopsy, oopsy, oopsy 'People's' I think you'll find.
  7. Hardly - the way he's managed his whole career suggests to me he's highly intelligent and focussed. I wonder how many millions he's made already?
  8. Others better informed than I may correct me, but I always understood that you could, actually, just walk away even if you haven't served your notice period. There is a risk YOU could be sued for breach of contract, but I think it's unlikely that anyone would pursue you for one month's wages. However, you also wouldn't receive your final month's salary.. But don't take my word for it - see if anyone more knowledgeable chips in.
  9. Check your current Contract of Employment to see if there's a clause forbidding you to do this. Since your current company are allowing you, in effect, to take three days holiday at the end of your notice period, I don't think they can have any say about what you do whilst 'on holiday'. How would they know anyway?
  10. I counted three flakes whilst driving from High Wycombe to Oxford this evening
  11. I, too, am a stickler for correct grammar and spelling. I refuse to patronise shops that advertise, for example, 'carrot's' or 'burger's' or any other commodity with an inappropriate apostrophe.
  12. Brilliant news Hamster. Love to you both R xx
  13. Just been announced that PFC are facing a second winding up petition. ON BBC South Today. Don't know any more than that.
  14. Well Notts County's due diligence is reportedly taking 28 days :smt102
  15. Isn't there some sort of tribunal that mediates in the event of a dispute over a player's value? If so, couldn't Watford appeal to such a tribunal if they are being denied that which is rightfully theirs?
  16. That's slightly at odds with the BBC's take on the matter: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/notts_county/8476737.stm This is interesting because firstly the amount HMRC are petitioning for is £2m according to this report and secondly there is talk of a second petition. I think it means that HMRC have agreed to wait 28 days in the light of the reported investment. The investors apparently need 28 days to do due dilligence. The Poopey case is different in that there doesn't realistically appear to be any inward investment on the horizon. I don't, therefore, think that HMRC will hold off before presenting a second petition. I think they'll go for the jugular first time around Oh BBC now posting further information: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/notts_county/8483226.stm
  17. So it was TDD that said 'Kiss me Hardy'
  18. I think he is a tennis player rather than a 'personality' and has never claimed to be otherwise TBF.
  19. And he's won! Although Nadal has retired hurt.
  20. Murray two sets up on Nadal
  21. I think they can walk as technically the club has breached their Contract of Employment. This is what I did when I wasn't paid on time - my solicitor reckoned I could also issue a Winding Up Petition (although in the end we reached a 'compromise').
  22. They won't and I will
  23. May I suggest you watch the match with me and Mr TF watches the match with your better half?
  24. It IS a made up day. Made up purely to swell the coffers of card manufacturers, florists and chocolate makers. Tell her you don't need a made up day to demonstrate your love. Buy her flowers etc all year round - tell her you refuse to pander to the lemming-like behaviour of those willing to pay a fruitin' fortune to make up for their unloving ways the rest of the year. That should do the trick
