  1. Did you mean 'Purser'?
  2. I don't read it that way. To me, it implies that PFC are perhaps disputing the amount they owe to other clubs, that the PL are double-checking (because, after all, they've never lied about anything before have they) and that PFC have asked the PL to let them have the £7m (to keep in business). Given that they will get MINUS £3m if the PL does keep their Sky money to pay the other clubs, then they simply can't keep in business, surely? In any event, I thought part of the PL's remit was to establish that their finances were 'sound'.
  3. Just relaying what was said on the news....
  4. PFC asking that the TV money be released to them, not to clubs they owe. Also asked for transfer embargo to be lifted. According to report just on BBC News. PL will respond tomorrow.
  5. Nah - that's the number of season ticket holders, surely.
  6. BBC News just reported that PFC still haven't paid the money they owe
  7. I just bought a bottle of HP sauce. I'm paying it off at 40p a week.
  8. PFC has been thoroughly used and abused by just about everyone it seems.
  9. I don't think NHS hospitals have lawyers on their payrolls. They tend to contract with them on an 'as needed' basis. Of course, until the early 90s, the health service had Crown Immunity which meant they couldn't be sued anyway.
  10. Phil, can you just imagine the administration costs! "Oh sorry Mr Jones, you'll have to pay for your hospital treatment for amputation / eye treatment / heart failure because you CHOSE to overeat for all those years leading to diabetes". "Aah Mrs Smith, sorry here's a big bill for you because you CHOSE to live until your 80s". My god, it would need a huge pool of lawyers to administer that!
  11. Sounds good in theory and already I think you have to pay a charge for treatment received as a result of a car accident (which you claim back on your motor insurance). But you could apply this principle to a number of cases. For example, if you break your leg because YOU choose to go skiing, should you pay some of the costs of treatment? Sort of negates the principles of the NHS IMO.
  12. Not telling us anything we didn't already know but this is a good summing up. I especially enjoyed this bit: ""That £7m is not enough to pay the football creditors" http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8453406.stm
  13. Just been announced that the organisation is now proscribed. Jail sentences for members.
  14. I agree with you Ponty - although I don't drink beer (only the occasional lager when I'm in a hot country / skiing). But I do think supermarkets should not be able to sell lager / beer at below cost - as a loss leader. Very irresponsible IMO. Totally agree with you about lifting the smoking ban. I'm trying to remember which European country's people totally ignored the smoking ban in bars but for the life of me I can't. We need a unified approach
  15. Yep - very senior Detective in Oxford only last week!
  16. Yeah I know Jilly - it's the dementia kicking in
  17. Yeah RICE You MUST demand a referral to a physio. I remember tearing my hamstring and the GP trying to fob me off with pain killers. When I insisted on going to a physio, she asked me how I knew I'd torn my hamstring. I told her I heard it rip. When I got to the physio (that same day) he said how good it was I'd got there so quickly as the longer you leave an injury, the worse it can get. Actually Clapham it could be REST: Rest Elevation Stuff from the freezer Tight bandage
  18. The initiative would have been handed over to the Local Education Authority (Southampton City Council assuming you live in the city). It's called devolved government. Write to your local councillor also.
  19. Did he tell you about REST? Rest, Ice (or frozen peas), Compression and Elevation? That would get the swelling down.
  20. Lawks a' mercy! You'd be complaining if the government DID get involved and set up centralised school websites and now you're complaining (sort of) because they haven't Why don't you have a word with the school? Or can't you be bothered. I wish we'd had the internet when I was at school.
  21. Whilst it's true that my son-in-law does have a laptop provided by the school he teaches at, he only uses it for school work. (It may be that it's configured only to access the school website but I don't know that as a fact). The family has its own laptop it uses for 'private' stuff.
  22. And those inches are always exaggerated
  23. "The £300m Home Access scheme, first announced by Prime Minister Gordon Brown in 2008, has been piloted in two local areas." Not in the past 5 minutes then after all
  24. Blimey - you'll be banning books next Johnny, you and I both know that a lot of reseach isn't necessarily restricted to educational sites. In my own job I have to search all sorts of sites for information.
