Look at us - all trying and hanging them already! We don't know the FACTS; they haven't been tried. Maybe we should all reserve our judgement until the truth is known :smt102 Just a thought. -

The one where they gave the lads a hard time about their performance and reduced Lallana to tears? Yeah I thought of that one too. -
But two ex-Saints

And, presumably, if they are 'terminated' again, they'll get another pay-off?

Boooooooo He's definitely not uneducated. He's definitely not ignorant. He may well have been ill informed but that's hardly his fault, really, if that's the case. If he was ill informed so was every other leader / finance minister in the Western world. So I guess they're all idiots then Clarkson, on the other hand, was sort of educated at some public school somewhere, but to no great degree. He's definitely ignorant and this is demonstrated by his regular use of offensive phrases and descriptions of people. He's probably as well informed as the rest of us but he chooses to ignore / misuse that information.

Sorry, my bad - you're right. He was vice-chairman.

How could Matthew Harding have had an interest, given that he owned Chelsea at that time? I thought that wasn't allowed :smt102

Look - I feel desperately sorry for these boys, thrust into a man's world. It's a bizarre experiment and it's gone badly wrong. But you know what - when I was a young dancer (performing before a paying audience I might add), if I made a mistake / fell over and heard groans and criticisms, well I just had to pick myself up and learn to try not to make the same mistake again. And be determined to improve. Not run off stage crying and turning up next time scared sh*tless. And I DID learn and I DID improve. I also became wiser. Different 'sport' but same scenario don't you agree?

When my children were teenagers they wanted to be all grown up, as do most teenagers. Some of their friends' parents wrapped their children in cotton wool, protecting them from the nasty world outside. I never did. I told them that, if they wanted the perceived trappings of being grown up, they had to be able to deal with the crappy downside of being grown up too. It was their decision. As a consequence, they learnt pretty quickly to deal with bullying, name-calling, sometimes unfair expectations etc. whereas many of the cotton-wool kids couldn't hack real life at all. My children rapidly learnt from their mistakes although the lessons were sometimes harsh. If young adults are treated like adults they'll learn to act like adults. If they're mollycoddled they'll remain immature. If our young boys were in any other walk of life, they'd probably get stick if they made mistakes and they'd learn from it. Think of life in the Forces, for example. I'm not advocating racist or homophobic abuse, but I see no harm in fans expressing their opinions. If they're taking 'grown up' wages they must expect 'grown up' comments from the crowd. So there endeth the lesson from a mother of three (well rounded) adults. I might add that my social worker and probation service friends support my approach.

You are having a laugh WS, aren't you? He is having a laugh, isn't he?

See what Sunderland is doing though: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/feb/07/sunderland-season-ticket-prices-niall-quinn

He might, in his warped way, think that a planted story about the threat of administration might bring back the paying fans to 'save the club'. If he is as close to Sale as some suggest, surely he would have quashed the story if it was going to cause him damage?
-
No - why? All Cabinet Ministers are advised by Permanent Secretaries who, more often than not, have those qualifications. His decisions are based on Civil Service advice and tailored to meet his government's point of view. George Osborne read Modern History at Oxford, and Kenneth Clarke studied Law.

There are some interesting facts with Steve Morgan. Started off as owner of Redrow Homes - property developer Now owner of Bridgmere - property developers based in the Channel Islands He paid £10, not £1, for Wolves.

I don't think 'idiot' applies to Gordon Brown TBF. He went to Edinburgh University at 16 (instead of the usual eighteen) and graduated with a first class degree in History. He then was awarded a PhD for his thesis on the history of the Labour Party in Scotland.

Possibly others who are not one-eyed, Scottish or idiots :smt102

It is also quite worrying to see how many billions in tax are being 'avoided' by household names in this country. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/feb/02/tax-gap-avoidance Disgraceful! If these billions were available to the government, a huge number of schools, hospitals etc could be built thus stimulating the construction sector leading to a general stimulus of the economy to the advantage of us all. There's a database within the article and companies can be selected from a drop-down menu. Then you can see how much tax is ACTUALLY paid against what is due. Tesco, for example, only pays 12% of its profit in tax  http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/interactive/2009/feb/02/tax-database -
Absolutely snowed in here in West Oxfordshire. Poor Mr TF had to drive through a blizzard this morning after a 12 hour night shift. It took him 3/4 of an hour to travel half a mile at one point.

And, by the same token, any administrator would see that it is sold with the proceeds going into to the creditors' pot?
-
Bugger - so that means there's unlikely to be a covenant on it, do we think? Or that it's ringfenced in any way?
