Nick - thank goodness that this chap has got up off his ar*e to do something positive (whether you agree with what he's doing or not). A lot of people are idealistic in their teens and that's just as well because by the time most people get to be middle-aged their idealism has vanished. Probably nothing of any note would have happened if it hadn't been this idealistic 16 yo. The middle-aged AWM would have moaned but done nothing. -
First rate OP! Maybe RL should go in for running a garden centre. He could spend a lot of money rearing saplings that snap at the first sign of frost and that no-one wants to buy anyway. He has the perfect business model for this in the way he runs SFC.

Surely someone can come up with a chant that includes this word? I'd love to see his face if he heard that word being sung at him

And a piece in the Echo about it too http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4140900.Saints__share_price_dives_to_record_low/

The vultures might do a Stanford, swoop into SMS in a helicopter, carrying a see-through briefcase (uh oh ) full of errr ummmm 10p pieces! Or does that only happen in cricket :smt102 -
Just dropped another whole 50p to 15.50p

If they asked me to suggest people who really know what they're talking about, I would suggest Duncan and Weston. -

R - you know much more about all this than I do and I think I've asked this question before. I now realise that JF was indeed 'sold' to the club but could there be a covenant on it to say that it can only be sold on if it STILL belongs to the club so that the proceeds go to the club alone? In other words, it could not be hived off in the event of administration? Extreme straw clutching going on here -

And Portsmouth has TWO cathedrals and NO football ground (to speak of) yet is a city also. Quite what Portsmouth's 'individual merits' are, heaven only knows. -
Yes No Yes No (my head's falling off now )

Probably - everything else about the club is managed in this way.

Isn't that called 'gearing' - the percentage of debt as a ratio to assetts?

Sounds a lot like one Nigel Pearson to me.

Me - give up political debate? Never . I've been babysitting my granddaughter this weekend and away from the virtual world. Quick hop on here before I go off to the Midlands for a couple of days - oh joy I'm old enough to remember when dentistry and prescriptions were free. I honestly don't remember when the charges started and which government introduced them. I don't regard the current government as 'socialist' - far from it. But the screwed economy they've 'delivered' isn't down to the so-called socialism. It's as rife in the capitalist world and is not the fault of this government in isolation, as you well know. That's my lot - early start tomorrow.
-
But THAT wealth is only created by people buying or, in other words, paying. The point about 'free' education, health etc. is that it is free at the point of delivery and access to it does not depend on wealth but on need (especially in the case of health). One of the best health services in the world is in Cuba FYI.

Didn't Ronald Reagan and his dominatrix Maggie Thatcher first deregulate the financial markets in their respective countries? -
A friend of mine just negotiated herself a £60K discount off a £360K brand new house. Not in the area you're looking at, granted, but it shows that developers are willing to take a huge cut to sell properties.

This Trust idea about the council buying SMS
bridge too far replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Most of the money councils hold in banks is on deposit. In other words, it is money collected and held until it is required / paid to central government / police / fire service. It's not 'savings'.
