It’s great to see there is widespread agreement that Trump has had a hand in reaching this peace deal to whatever degree. Well done Donald. You’ve managed to help save many lives.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Sir Ralph replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
We can all go into the details of various circumstances. I’m not making up what I’m saying but let’s pretend that I am. Can you please answer my question as this is based an a much wider factual sample anyway “In the context of the huge number of millionaires leaving now have liquid assets of over £1million why then is it that so many more wealthy people are leaving the uk compared to any other country (last year)?” -

I deleted what I previously wrote because I thought it was sarcastic. The table I provided shows millionaires leaving the UK with liquid investable wealth of £1 million or more. Whilst income tax may not have gone up under the current government the general business climate has become one of discouraging business an investment for example increasing capital gains tax. If people have existing assets in this country they may not sell them but they may well take some of the existing funds that they have and take them abroad to invest in countries who are more pro business. Alternatively, depending on their business cycle, due to the anti business environment, they may now sell their asset and take the tax hit and decide to reinvest the money in a more pro business environment. Businesses people see their future outside of the uk for this reason. In the context of the huge number of millionaires leaving now have liquid assets of over £1million why then is it that so many more wealthy people are leaving the uk compared to any other country? My friend is in the process of selling his software company and will be investing the proceeds in different ventures. His words “this country is done, the US is much more attractive”. I’ve heard this so many times and I’m really really surprised you aren’t aware of this sentiment. PS they aren’t selfish. -

Oh met somebody else tonight who has just sold their software business and moving to the us because they don’t see any future here. But I’m just making it up #itsallfine -
The police have lost bearing on what their job is - or at least their seniors have. The problem is society has become so sensitive about any form of comments (words are the equivalent of physical aggression BS) that people report any old shite to the police. The police, being scared of these overly sensitive people and not wanting to be labelled as racist or homophobes, etc then feel they have to “investigate” these matters. Get your phone stolen on the street though and that’s ok - your tweet with some obscure opinion is potentially more harmful to the snowflake than the thief that stole your phone. Real and proper nasty stuff should be investigated but the threshold for investigating some of this rubbish needs to be raised as it’s a waste of police time.

Jim Callaghan….sorry Kier Starmer I meant -
One of my first memories when I was little was an end of season match against the crazy gang in the 80’s. All of the players walked out to the directors box at the end and got cheered. Razor Ruddock dropped his shorts and, jockstrap on, started to thrust backwards and forwards with his manhood bouncing all over the place to big cheers. That was definitely etched in my memory! Can’t imagine Jack Stephen’s doing that nowadays somehow!

I’m lost then - sorry who is making what point please?

As I said I don’t think Kimmel should have been cancelled. However what he did say was incorrect and misleading about the killer. To be fair Kimmel was doing what he accused Trump of, by making it about politics and misleading to achieve his aim.
-
Agree - this type of rubbish has been going on for too long. Don’t now need more of it
-
He is nowhere near a 'facist' - there seems to be a lack of understanding of this word. When conservative commentators were cancelled during Biden's presidency was he a facist? As I said before, I think Kimmel is talking rubbish but shouldnt be cancelled
-
This is very ironic, in case you hadnt been around for the past 10 years. I'm not agreeing with it mind you. Also, this wasn't a decision made by politicians so you cant accuse Trump of being that in this case.
-
He shouldnt have been cancelled as that's against free speech. What he was though was fundamentally factually incorrect in his statement, which is embarrassing. He said that the shooter was essentially a conservative, which is incorrect and an insensitive thing to say in the context of the Kirk killing. However, being an idiot shouldnt prevent free speech. As I said above, he shouldnt be cancelled but the irony is that this has happened to many conservative commentators and is now happening in the reverse.

Your comment wasn’t particularly funny. Try to be more balanced though -

I’m trying to be balanced….try it sometime as I know it’s alien to you. When we call out bad policies, that’s not talking the country down, it’s calling out crap policies! -

Credit where credit is due. In the interest of fairness and balance there is the odd thing they are doing right. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c7016ljre03o
