  1. Will you not come in to contact with anyone or touch anything on a 2 mile trip?
  2. People who attend church / other formal places of worship tend to have only one concept of 'God'. I doubt people who believe in the pantheistic God of Baruch Spinoza are attending Raging Bull's Sunday services.
  3. It does indeed. However, his 'God' could also be interpreted as 'mother nature', not a singular all knowing being.
  4. What, this Albert Einstein? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_and_philosophical_views_of_Albert_Einstein
  5. Again, not entirely sure Isaac Newton fortifies your point! During his lifetime it was LAW that you had to be religious / subscribe to religion, LAW, not choice!
  6. Not entirely sure what your point is? It is estimated that just 5% of the UK population attend church on a regular basis. Statistically that means that the overwhelming majority of 'rational thinkers' - and indeed 'irrational thinkers' - DON'T attend your or anyone else's church.
  7. But we aren't in a containment phase - it's widely accepted that the virus is present in pretty much every part of the UK to varying degrees. The current lockdown phase is more concerned with limiting the number of cases at any one time rather then stopping it spreading to certain geographical regions....
  8. I don't know, why would a bottom feeder want to get their head above water.....
  9. It has been hammered home, but what is the difference between this family (who by the sounds of things all live together) and the extended families I witnessed walking along the promenade in Weston at the weekend (very unlikely they all live together as there really aren't that many places that would accomodate such extended families in the area and the people living in them are unlikely to be taking a stroll on Weston prom!!!). To me it's just a matter of scale - why should driving 500 miles be any different to driving 5-10 miles to achieve the same result?
  10. And yet : Arguably, despite their stupidity, they haven't officially contravened this section and could state that they are complying by being with members of their own family - I understand that most people would understand the issue, but going by the letter of the legislation there is no contravention. Additonally : Which kind of backs up the point that in the first instance they should be asked to go home - the story doesn't state they have resisted in any way....
  11. Thought it was very good - the only thing that stood out for me though was the lack of a decent music score, his other films have hit the mark perfectly in that respect....
  12. Then what are they praying for? Surely they are praying for a supreme being to interfere to ensure something bad doesn't happen / ensure something good does happen. If not that, then surely they are praying for their 'afterlife' to be good (particularly selfish)? If they don't follow any religion or believe in God, what exactly are they expecting to happen when they pray?
  13. Is this right? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-52277535 I'm not disputing the fact that the family are complete idiots and what they did is unacceptable, however, haven't police forces insisted that fines are for people who have ignored police advice - i.e. they've been told not to do something (sunbathing, visiting places etc etc) - and continued to do the same activity, only then being issued a fine. If fines are able to be issued due to idiocy, is that a slippery slope? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-52106843
  14. Are you trying to bring the Skates back to the forum with your porn?
  15. Good for her, finally the proof that MLG has been looking for that God really does exist. I assume she didn't bother with a ventilator given the divine intervention?
  16. It's been a religious argument since the first post - where have you been?
  17. Surely if they 'turn to God' then they will undoubtedly forgive the sins of the father
  18. It's the job of the party leader to, you know, lead the party. Having failed so miserably at that relatively simple task, explain how he would have made a good leader of the entire country?
  19. They'd claim their phone was stolen though innit bruv!
  20. This would be my guess too. The 'herd immunity' is still the only answer in the absence of a vaccine - trouble is they let this theory out of the bag too early and all the thick people got scared! The only way to do this is to keep turning lockdown on and off in order to manager the number of people in hospital before 'community immunity' is achieved.
  21. Technically it can be both. On any given day "X" number of people (on average 1400) die in the UK. Of those that don't die, there will be a significant percentage whose lives were saved having received treatment from the NHS. The Government's plan is to try to reduce the number of infections, thus reducing the number of people who will need to use intensive care at any given time (hence 'lockdown'). At the same time they are increasing the number of beds available to treat virus patients - taking over private care hospitals and building 'Nightingale' centres. By doing this the NHS doesn't become overwhelmed with virus patients and there is therefore still capacity to treat 'ordinary' patients with alternative illlnesses whose lives can potentially be saved.
  22. Not only CAN they, but they most definitely should - and that goes for all age groups not just over 70s. The point is, how they used to exercise - going for a walk along the beach with family / friends surrounded by other people doing the same thing - needs to be adjusted. Unless of course the local councils have closed off pretty much every car park / beauty spot 'just for a laugh'.
  23. https://www.ft.com/content/d738b2c6-000a-421b-9dbd-f85e6b333684 (I haven't read it as I don't subscribe to FT). Odd then that you can see so many people around this age out and about as if nothing has changed. Pretty sure this isn't 'new' news and has been the same since the start of the pandemic.
  24. Yes, this is exactly the message I am happy to go along with. Like most people I had plans for the Easter weekend with my family, which I have had to cancel due to that exact message - and yes, I do still go to work every day, although I'm not 'forced' to do so, I fully understand the risks present and am happy to follow the guidelines in place so as not to spread the virus.
  25. Maybe the grandparents are now all looking after the kids, because hey, they all mix together at the weekend anyway, so why not? Either that or - and try and keep up here - it's now Easter holidays! Maybe one of the parents had already booked time off for the Easter break so they could care for their children. Who knows, but stranger things have happened!
