  1. I don't understand why people are against him. He's proven in other leagues (although not the championship or premier league) new ideas need to start from somewhere (Crystal Palace just won the FA cup on a gamble manager). He has to be decent if Reims were willing to pay 22,000 each time he managed a match. People are stuck on the same names that have stories of being successful in the league but all those managers have also been relegated or been sacked not to mention who knows if they want to come to a crumbling team like us at the moment. I just think it would be nice to be the team that takes a gamble and potentially pays off. People would likely give him a bit more time. Whereas a manager who has been there and done that will not get the time needed and people will be very quick to turn. To be fair I'm surprised Leicester aren't linked. I don't think there is a right or wrong as we are shyte and it needs to get a lot right if we have any chance regardless of manger. Being able to trim the squad down and add quality without bloating the squad again is just as big of a job as hiring a manager. However, the inside has been a overhaul of changes so why not go with a wild card manager. As always IMO.
  2. I think Still would be worth going for as he will cause people to ask questions. Managers won't have many clues to go by. Other teams have taken gambles (Bournemouth, Brighton etc) and others have gone with the been there done that (west ham) which hasn't gone down as they hoped. Then again it worked for Everton so being in the right place at the right time comes to mind. For me it would be a fresh of breath air to try something different and see if we can finally be the team that people think struck gold (like Brighton). It may not work but trying something predictable for me is a bigger gamble as people will judge them harsher and quicker. Clearly just an opinion.
  3. Took my daughter to the game and we both were relying on our lunch to be the best part of our day but actually we left the game with a sense of pride. It wasn't pretty by any means and listening to people shout "go forward" clearly haven't been following the Saints all year but the players showed they care. Clearly the plan was to support one another, don't leave anyone hanging and stay focused from start to finish which I believe they did. If we would have played how Pep and Dias wanted us to, we would have chased every ball up to the halfway line, got exhausted by the 20th minute and they would have score by the 30th minute and we would all be thinking here comes the rugby score. If we can't organise ourselves to go forward and yet defend against a teach such as Leicester how the hell would we do it against Man City. Anyway, thank you Saints for putting it all on the line for us today and making it a good day out.
  4. I disagree, yes there were moments of miscommunication but that is always going to happen especially when needed to act on reactions. You could tell how trained they were to hold tight rather rather than disperse. Each time Saints had almost everyone on their side, someone had to take a yellow in order to slow them down and stop the threat from the counter attack. Clearly the danger were the crosses so they double teamed which caused them to pass it out front which led to nothing( surprising how few attempts they had from distance). Pep and Dias complain that we didn't try to play but we don't have the team to play. If we come out, we lose our shape which is exactly what they want and need most teams to do. So as I said, miss-communicate at times yes, organised yes but got a well deserved point.
  5. As I've said previously, I think we need someone who wants a clean slate, full of ideas and most importantly wants to be bigger than Southampton. Normally, I'd be worried if they want to use Southampton as a stepping stone but on this occasion I'll take it because if we are a stepping stone he has to be successful. I still stand by my idea of Still as he is the only stand out candidate who wants to be bigger and is an unknown.
  6. I think Will Still has more to prove and although a gamble it would be worth taking, so although controversial I think he would feel he has just as much to lose as Saints if not more. He wants to be a big manager, he has earned the respect of many for what he has already done but needs to prove he can do it in England if he wants to one day manage a 'Big Club'. Personally he could take less risk than taking on Saints as we need a complete rebuild. But I think his desire to prove himself and eagerness to be the next big thing could only work in our favour until he becomes too big for us but hopefully by the time he does that we are a better complete team. Whereas Rohl has a reputation regardless of what happens and in someways has an excuse for his shortcomings coming into the role. (club falling apart etc) I am not convinced he has the same all or nothing pressure that Sill has but obviously this is my opinion.
  7. Its a dammed if you do or don't situation. We need a manager so that they can start building a plan with their preference for the following season and can start the rebuild asap but that means potentially making a rash decision and regretting it. If we wait we limit the impact a new manager could have on signings and lose the interest of interested managers as there won't be time to influence the outgoing and incomings and in which case could be too late to get the manager we would want. So all in all its crap either way with little chance of a silver lining ATM.
  8. Manager Premier League wins at Southampton Ralph Hasenhuttl 47 Ruben Selles 2 Nathan Jones 1 Russell Martin 1 Ivan Juric 1 Simon Rusk (interim) 0 Pretty depressing when you think about it.
  9. Th crazy thing is, there was a time that 4-0 would have been considered as a heavy defeat which equals booing at full time and potentially some chants of you're being sacked in the morning. However, we have become accustomed to the score line and it now just feels like a normal loss. At 4 nil and shots for a 5th, Ramsdale swearing at his own team mates to get the **** up the field, you could still here our fans singing proudly (for good or bad depending on who you ask). This feels worse than getting relegated. Normally you go down as favourites to come back up, we will be the favourites to either be relegated twice or at least finish bottom half. Depressing...

    Ivan Juric

In all honesty, I think it hurts Juric as much as it hurts the Saints to stay. He may as well leave to save face and we need to bring someone in who can bring the group together, bring back a style that it's competitive and fun to where players want to stay and play for the manager. At least it would allow us to build a positive transition from one league to another and hopefully give us confidence in the season to come. This just has a feeling of manager, players and fans screaming and being dragged through the mud as we are booted out of the league and everyone looking forward to playing us next season.
  11. I think it would be worth it as playing with this style will not do any good in the championship either. We couldn't even score against Burnley playing this way. We need a manager who needs to get our team playing in a way that gives us confidence when going down so that we have something to build on. This style of play is going to get us relegated twice.
  12. I don't think we matched them at all, I think they they took it easy. Kept it professional, if we scored in the first five minutes in the second half they would have gone on to score another 2,3 or even four more.
  13. Yes, to some extent. The fact we stayed in it after conceding so earlier has to be an achievement. No points but still will build confidence in our defence. So many corners well defended against one of the best teams in the world if not the best. However, that being said we still need to find a win from somewhere.
  14. I thought the criticism was well written and exactly what's wrong with out defending. Before they came think about playing high or passing too close to our box they need to focus on basic defending. Mke us difficult to score against.
  15. There was a time we were ruthless and took emotion out of it. (Nigel replaced by Poch) It wasn't a popular decision but in the end he exceeding our expectations. If we carry on playing in a way that we would expect to see Man City play (United wish they could play) and continue to lose we may need to let him go and bring someone in. Our defense is either young with years to go or at the end of the careers not at their peaks. So the idea of playing out from the back and not making a mistake is unrealistic no matter how much they train. I for one am hoping this will turn into something like last year, we started awful and then things started to click but how many matches can we afford to lose before it's too late to climb out. Would 4/10 be acceptable at the moment?
  16. Ryan Bertrand as he was the first player that I didn't need to Google or research to see if he was any good. Everyone else at that time were players that nobody knew of.
  17. I don't think people forgot but not signing them would have created a bigger hole for us to climb out of so it was always an assumption we would get them. But if you don't make changes that make you stronger than you are already prepared to go back down. Those guys helped us steady the ship and get promoted now we need more power to keep us away from the bottom 5 teams
  18. We need players who are possession based players as the manager doesn't want to change his system. See how that goes in the premier league. However those sort of players at the required level are better than players we have and are being mentioned with and more importantly will cost more than 20 million we so desperately want to spend per player. So it will be a very interesting summer
  19. Played with no purpose. Men Vs boys mentality. We played as though we had glass ankles and didn't want to get hurt. With that being the mentality, why play? Play the younger players who want to show they are the future and have something to prove.
  20. Id rate this window a 9. Came out of it stronger and kept the core together. I left it a 9 because we could have been pleasantly surprised with a phenomenal secret goal scorers. But overall very pleased, we even managed to make a potential profit which will be needed if we do go up
  21. I agree to some degree. It would be great to get a striker however you are not going to get a certain finisher at this point in the transfer market. It would need to be an unknown or someone in a division below like Ipswich have just gambled on (which numbers wise looks a good gamble) or someone who isn't getting enough game time which is always for a reason. The manager doesn't seem to be nervous when being interviewed. I think he would be nervous as hell if he was being told be ready to lose one of your main strikers when you have the hardest part of the season coming up. Hopefully 1 in, McCarthy out and all else the same.
  22. At this point, I think we are at the point in the window where we should only be adding. If we lose anyone it will create a hole (accept McCarthy) and let's be honest we always hope they have a plan in case this happens but we get burnt every time we try to last minute buy. Hopefully Benson comes in for depth but otherwise lets hope we stay pretty much the same and the teams around us become weaker with people leaving last minute.
  23. For me, I'm glad we are still in the cup. Id personally like to see us face a PL team. Forget about getting thumped etc. Let's see what are mentality from this season can do against an opposition we could potentially be facing next season (obviously pending on promotion). Let's be honest we all want to know if we can play the possession based football at a higher level.
  24. I'd be disappointed if we didn't go for this. I realise we have to rotate however we have a week to prepare or the Rotherham match who are bottom of the league. What other favourable circumstances do you need in order to go for a cup win. It would be different if we were playing Wednesday.
