  1. Peter Bosz has just been sacked by Lyon. Plays the high press and likes his teams to be aggressive (very playbook-y). Couldn't see it myself, but you never know
  2. I'm not sure that's quite fair - he's got 2 goals and 5 assists in all competitions (and more if you include PL2). That's comparable to Elyounoussi (who has played more games) and I'd argue Tella causes more trouble for defences then Moi does
  3. No, but in his defence he was sacked after only 5 leagues games and they only lost two of them - they drew against Stuttgart and Koln, and beat Wolfsburg. It was a 4-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurtand a 4-1 loss to Shakhtar in the Champions League that finished him off (though it may have had more to do with Marco Rose becoming available). Worth nothing Leipzig haven't exactly rocketed away either after his sacking with Rose in charge - they took 5 points from their opening 5 games under Tedesco, and 7 from 4 without him, losing to Borussia Mönchengladbach (managed by everyone's favourite Daniel Farke) and drawing with Mainz yesterday. They've also lost to Real in the CL since Tedesco left.
  4. Tedesco is on my list as the desperate hope he could be the next Poch, but he isn't at the top. Had Leipzig playing well in his first season, but adopted a 5/3 at the back (shifting from something like a 5-3-2 when defending to a 3-4-1-2 or 3-4-3 in attack) which seems an anathema to some Saints fans. He favours the press (as you'd expect from a RB manager) so suits the playbook, but has been well regarded as a "defensive mastermind" in the past. Another name I'd mulled over in addition to Tedesco, Thorup and both Bo's was Oliver Glasner, won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt
  5. Got to say this felt a little unprofessional from Adam. He continues to make excuses for Ralph, trusts his 'contacts' word for it that the article wasn't brief, speculates to an insane degree that the owners are briefing against the manager, then ends up admitting a defeat to Man City puts him under further pressure. Adam's friendship with Hassenhuttl is colouring his ability to scrutinise him
  6. Really? Been at Leipzig and Salzburg - seems a very Saints-y link to me, Leeds or no Leeds. I wouldn't have thought they'd bring Thorup here because we have Selles, but that Thorup would be attractive for multiple reasons including that he's already familiar with elements of our coaching team. Thorup, incidentally, was the manager of Midtjylland when they knocked us out the Europa League (incidentally pressing high and forcing an error from Rodriguez for Rasmussen's goal in the second leg)
  7. Honestly, I don't think being sacked is a big indicator of quality - most managers have been sacked somewhere along the line and lots of clubs are pretty trigger happy, I mean look at Wolves...
  8. Does he have Portuguese heritage?
  9. Back to potential options: Tedseco, if he doesn't go to Wolves Niko Kovac, who is at Wolfsburg but imminently for the sack I'd imagine Bo Svensson, if we're willing to go for someone in work Jess Thorup? Did well at Copenhagen and feels very Saints-y Bo Henriksen? Had Midtjylland playing well...ish It's a shame we missed out on Marco Rose, genuinely think he could have been tempted here
  10. Well this is chipper!
  11. What did he like?
  12. Yeah I agree - I thought Lyanco and Valery did well yesterday, and Djenepo seems like a different player. Long way to go (and pre-season is very different to a cold night in Stoke) but lots of encouraging signs
  13. Has there been any update on Dibling? Seems like he's off but not heard anything for some time
  14. Is there? I don't think there is a Moussa Dembebele? Certainly a Moussa Demblele and a Mousa Demblele
  15. I think both kits have looked great in action
  16. Probably the best away kit we've had in a long time - I love it!
  17. He played the full 90 in that game - makes me think he may not have been the problem! Not least because he also played the full 90 when Bochum beat Bayern 4 - 2 as per: I think this is quite exciting, and also shows that Saints are quietly and diligently going about their transfer business with little fanfare
  18. Just came here to say that! Not like they've made it a secret or anything
  19. That's not true surely?
  20. Is every Hummel kit release going to be randomly posted up here?
  21. That's assuming that a) the fee in the media is accurate, b) there isn't a substantial loan fee too, and c) his wages wouldn't make it prohibitive regardless. It's rarely as simple as 'if we can only find a few more £million down the sofa we'd be in for X'
  22. We have absolutely no reason to believe the club aren't already actively out there with their shortlist negotiating. Just because there's a whole flurry of random paper and agent talk about different plays and different teams doesn't mean we're not diligently going about our transfer business. If the squad has returned from pre-season and we haven't signed a few then by all means kick off, but mid-June? Cut them a smidge of slack...
  23. The transfer window has been open for 5 days, and we're Southampton, not Man City - what exactly do you expect?
  24. Don't hold back mate
  25. This absolutely baffles me if true
