  1. These ones maybe But to be honest they sound more like this Maybe they are off to Valenciennes?
  2. If the cards fall right we have the potential to be able to relegate Everton at the conclusion to their last ever game at Goodison Park. Would be a good way to sign off the season whatever happens to us 😁
  3. The Ugly Inside have a post suggesting we must be loan favourites for Aaron Ramsdale. Newcastle have 5 goalies including a fit again Pope and an aging Dubravka + Arsenal wouldn't want to strengthen a direct rival. The is also a reasonably strong case that no other PL team is really in the market for a goalkeeper. Couple that with geographical proximity to his Bournemouth links and there might be something in the rumour. 🤞
  4. Just had a read to see if there Is any realistic option of us being able to loan Lavia for the season. Chelsea played him for 32 minutes in one game in December during the whole of last season. Ankle injury and hamstring injury seem to have been the issues. He is fit now, but unfortunately for us played a blinder in Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Wrexham yesterday. Bugger. Flynn & Romeo together in a 4-2-3-1 would have been very nice to have 😔
  5. Presumably because he played several seasons there. Yes, it's not the same, but it is the next best thing.
  6. I completely agree with this, and yet Mara scored in both pre-season games. He looks for all the world like a waste of a place, but the ball seems to find him in congested penalty areas. Has he ever scored from a different position, or with a different sort of strike? None spring to mind for me currently.
  7. Definitely had a casual air to that shot
  8. 2nd period that was not far off a current first team midfield and forward line up + Sugawara. Disappointing they couldn't score when the youngsters managed 3... Edozie Arma Sulemana Aribo Smallbone Downes Sugawara does look sharp though
  9. The club website seemed to suggest it was only available to stream on the iOS mobile App.
  10. What happens if you want to watch it on a reasonable sized laptop screen instead of a pissy small phone screen?!
  11. This turn of phrase seems ridiculously disrespectful to KWP. It really feels like despite the players having busted a gut to gain us promotion, the level of toxicity on Saintsweb recently has ramped up in preparation for our return to the cess pit that is the PL. Whilst I will respect his decision, personally I'd be gutted if KWP left - hopefully we can persuade him to sign a new contract. Imagine Sugawara on the right and KWP on the left - that's a genuine PL attacking fullback pairing so why the negativity?
  12. Scored an absolute beauty against Eastleigh when he came on in the second half.
  13. Ballard is committed to a second season on loan at Reading. Lets hope Selles keeps him injury free this time.
  14. TurkishSaint would at least be a bit more subtle 😉
  15. Lots of teams were in the running yesterday. We aren't listed here, but would be the only PL team Sheffield United face stiff competition for Jesrun Rak Sakyi On twitter: "Southampton are making an enquiry for Palace Winger Rak-Sakyi. The winger had been cleared to speak to Sheffield United, QPR and Hull before the surprise development"
  16. If we were playing 5-3-2 he might have Armstrong as the support striker plus Mara (?), AN Other(?), maybe Alcaraz as a 10?, maybe a loan?
  17. I'd be surprised if he did back to back 90 min stints in the first 2 competitive PL games
  18. RM was asked about Ross Stewart during the interview at AFC Totton. (See MLG thread) Suggested he was raring to go, would do well, but would be eased into things gently initially.
  19. On 12/07/2024 at 07:28, Harry_SFC said: Especially given our fixtures over the first month or so - potential winnable games that we can't afford to waste. On 12/07/2024 at 08:32, Patches O Houlihan said: So would you rather we followed up Newcastle away, with Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Villa away, so that we can afford to make a slow start?! But you also end up in a position of being on zero points going into match day 6 - so even if you're playing Ipswich at home there is massive pressure on the players; a few missed passes and after 15 mins St Mary's has the same toxic atmosphere that it had for the last few prem seasons. We lose, its October, and we're still on 0 points. All the good players tell their agents they want out in the January window... The reality is that we are far better with a season where all the 'miracle win' games are scattered evenly alongside the winnable ones so that you can balance momentum and positivity against the likelihood that we're going to lose maybe 50% of games. It's actually something that I'm pleased about; our fixture list seems to be fairly evenly spread with the exception of the last few games being particularly tough. Anybody who's had much practical experience of negotiation knows that it is all about power - the reality but also the perception. Without overwhelming power in the market we will play the same transfer game as everyone else. Which means that 'easy' transfers get done first, and the competitive transfers for the players we really want (that everyone else is interested too) take a long time to play out. The reality is that if we really were able to get all our transfer business done by the 3rd week of July allowing the whole squad to train together for a month before the season starts, yes we would go quite well for the first few games, BUT everyone would be moaning when they see all the cut price last minute sales and loans that happen in the last 2 weeks of the window and that we don't have the financial room to take advantage of. As with so much of life you can't have your cake and eat it.
  20. That's the spirit! Lets show the West Ham lot that we can bring a negative attitude to games better than anyone in the prem!
  21. So would you rather we followed up Newcastle away, with Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Villa away, so that we can afford to make a slow start?! 😜
  22. Emergency over. SaintsWeb's resident rainbow knight Turkish can stand down. Minogue minor apparently bats right handed but appreciates the efforts of switch hitters
  23. Can we just let ourselves dream for five minutes before accepting reality... a midfield of Downes, Camara & Matt O'Riley!
